Yeah, the original Naruto is goofy, especially when cartoon-like sounds can be heard sometimes.

I will also watch Naruto Shippuden once I am done watching the original series.

I am watching the first season of the original Naruto anime, I'm enjoying it so far!

I wonder if you two can pinpoint where the pacing goes wonky. It's been a while for me but I recall a fight with Orochimaru dragging on a bit, but I enjoyed some of the fights after that like the one with Kimimaro.

You're going to enjoy it! I really liked the first arc and to me it felt like it could've ended there and been a great stand-alone series. The rest of the show is also amazing, but there's not many shows that have an introduction season that was as strong as this one.

I also really like One Piece, but it's first arc isn't nearly as strong as this one was. The show grew stronger as it went on, but out of the two One Piece had the weaker introduction.
