Final Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver Soul Link Nuzlocke challenge update:

Trainer: Riley

Badges: 8/16

Team: N/A

Deaths since last update:

Iago the Persian (M), Lv. 51
Kana the Meganium (M), Lv. 51
Gangrel the Weezing (M), Lv. 51
Gatrie the Gyarados (M), Lv. 51
Lissa the Ampharos (F), Lv. 51
Rinkah the Heracross (F), Lv. 51

As NUH said, we both blacked out. We ended up making it through route 27, Tohjo Falls, route 26, and through Victory Road with no deaths and to the Indigo Plateau. We even grinded up our teams to level 51 across the board. But then when we faced the elite four, the first death happened against Bruno, the third of the elite four, and more deaths happened against Karen, the fourth of the elite four, as well. By the time we got to Lance we only had Iago/Owain and Gatrie/Vika left. We fought valiantly with what little we had, but Lance thoroughly crushed us. Ah, well, like I said before, all spectacular Nuzlocke challenge runs must come to an end eventually. Both NUH and I are going to be taking a break from Pokemon challenges for awhile after this devastating defeat. Until next time, see ya. :p

BUMPing this since we’re getting close to the release of Pokemon Sword/Shield, in case anyone wants to post their challenges here.

In preparation for the new games, I just moved all my Pokemon from my Pokemon Ultra Sun game to Pokemon Bank, reset my file, and am doing a Wonderlocke challenge of Pokemon Ultra Sun while watching episodes of Pokemon Sun and Moon that I missed.

Pokemon Ultra Sun Wonderlocke:

Trainer: Shinichi

Trials: 0/8 Grand trials: 0/4

Team:

Bonsly (F), Lv. 14
Tirtouga (M), Lv. 15

I just recently started and made it to the Trainers School. I wondertraded my starter, Rowlet (Migi), away as well as an Alolan Meowth I caught at the Trainers School, and after several wondertrades received a Bonsly and a Tirtouga I can use. I have to say that I like this for the first trial, but that I’ll definitely need to capture more Pokemon and wondertrade for different types before I get to the fighting type grand trial, otherwise Hala will destroy my team LOL. Definitely looking forward to this challenge.

Also, NoUsernameHere is continuing his Pokemon Ultra Sun Wonderlocke and will post about it here later.

And that I shall. Well, I actually decided to start over. Here's what I've got going on currently:
- Slowpoke (F), Lv. 7
- Pikipek (M), Lv. 7
- Alolan Rattata (F), Lv. 5

Currently sitting at the Trainer's School and taking care of all the stuff there. Other than that, I basically made it far enough to trade Pokemon and get a few encounters.

An update on my challenge:

Pokemon Ultra Sun Wonderlocke:

Trainer: Shinichi

Trials: 1/8 Grand trials: 1/4

Team:

Mastashio the Alolan Rattata (M), Lv. 18
Grubbin (F), Lv. 16
Hawlucha (M), Lv. 17
Sudowoodo (F), Lv. 17
Tirtouga (M), Lv. 17
Magikarp (M), Lv. 19

A lot happened since my last update. Bonsly evolved into Sudowoodo, and was the star of my first trial, using Brick Break to quickly take care of the Totem Pokemon and its ally. I then went onwards, catching more Pokemon in each different area and wondertrading them away. Eventually I made it to Kahuna Hala’s grand trial, and I passed it with flying colors thanks to a Hawlucha I picked up through wondertrade. Now I’ll be heading to the second island the next time I play. Should also mention I have a level 1 male Salandit and a level 1 male Honedge in my PC box as well. :)

Another update on my challenge.

Pokemon Ultra Sun Wonderlocke:

Trainer: Shinichi

Trials: 2/8 Grand trials: 1/4

Team:

Tirtouga (M), Lv. 21
Hawlucha (M), Lv. 21
Mastashio the Alolan Raticate (M), Lv. 21
Growlithe (F), Lv. 21
Sudowoodo (F), Lv. 21
Gyarados (M), Lv. 22

A lot happened since my last update. I Mantine surfed over to Akala Island, explored the city, picked up some glasses for Shinichi at the clothes shop, and made it all the way to Paniola Town. Defeated Hau once again with no casualties. Then I made it to Lana’s trial site and received Lapras on my ride pager. Before continuing the trial, I backtracked to Melemele Island and went to all the places with Surf I couldn’t go before, toughening up my team. I then took on Lana’s trial and beat it with no casualties, taking care of Totem Araquanid and Dewpider thanks to a combination of Gyarados and Hawlucha with an Adamant nature and the Unburden ability Sitrus berry technique. Once Hawlucha went under half health, it consumed the berry and Unburden activated, increasing its speed and giving it the ability to finish off Totem Araquanid with Aerial Ace, as well as Dewpider before Dewpider could finish Hawlucha off. It should also be noted that I have a level 18 Charmeleon in the PC, as well as a level 1 male Salandit and an egg. Also, Grubbin and Honedge died during this time, so they were both released back into the wild. Next time I play I’ll be heading to Wela Volcano and the site of my next trial. Until next time. :)

Yet another update on my challenge!

Pokemon Ultra Sun Wonderlocke:

Trainer: Shinichi

Trials: 3/8 Grand trials: 1/4

Team:

Charmeleon (M), Lv. 18
Tirtouga (M), Lv. 22
Gyarados (M), Lv. 22
Mimikyu (F), Lv. 23
Aerodactyl (M), Lv. 26

A lot happened since the last update. I went to the Battle Royal dome and participated in a mock Battle Royal, which I won by taking out Gladion’s Type: Null with Hawlucha. I then made it to Wela Volcano Park, the site of my next trial. But then devastation happened... Arcanine, Sudowoodo, Hawlucha, and Mastashio the Alolan Raticate all ended up dying. I just barely won with Mimikyu still in the party. Now my team has been changed up after the trial since I need more Pokemon on my team, which I filled by adding Pokemon from the PC box. It’s not the most balanced team at the moment, and I definitely wasn’t prepared for that trial, but at least I managed to win and not blackout. When I next play I’ll be heading towards Lush Jungle and the site of my fourth trial. Looking forward to it. :)

An update on my Pokemon Ultra Sun Wonderlocke.
Trials beaten: 1
Grand Trials beaten: 1
Team:
Trumbeak (M), Lv. 16
Alolan Rattata (F), Lv. 17
Slowpoke (F), Lv. 17
Dartrix (M), Lv. 17
Litwick (F), Lv. 18
Machop (F), Lv. 18

A lot has happened since my last update, obviously. No deaths yet, Slowpoke and Alolan Rattata are still here, Pikipek evolved into Trumbeak but he never left either. Along the way, I also gained some allies, as you can see. I obtained a Rowlet from Wonder Trade (which is now a Dartrix), a Litwick, Machop, as well as a Froakie, a Grubbin and a Cacnea which are in the PC. The first trial was a breeze thanks to Machop, although the first Grand Trial was a bit tougher than expected. I still won without any casualties, but only barely. Trumbeak almost got killed in one hit by Hala's Machop's Revenge but he thankfully survived and I was able to stall for a few turns which lead to his Machop going down. From there, I had Dartrix and Slowpoke take care of the rest of the work. Currently I haven't done anything after the first Grand Trial but I'll be back with another update when I have one.

A new update on my Pokemon Ultra Sun Wonderlocke!

Trainer: Shinichi

Trials: 4/8 Grand trials: 2/4

Team:

N/A

A lot happened, but basically I beat Mallow’s trial... but at the cost of Arcanine, Gyarados, Mimikyu, and Aerodactyl. With only Charmeleon and Tirtouga left, I headed south into Diglett’s Tunnel and caught a random Pokemon, which I wondertraded away for a Magnemite! I then made it to route 9 and caught another random Pokemon at the Akala Outskirts, which I wondertraded away for a level 1 Eevee! I raised the Eevee up in Lush Jungle and it evolved into a Leafeon. I then prepared for Kahuna Olivia’s grand trial, beat Plumeria, and faced Kahuna Olivia in battle. I was able to take out her Anorith with two Aqua Jets from Tirtouga, and then take out her Lileep with two Mirror Shots from Magnemite. Finally, I switched into Leafeon for her Lycanroc. I used a Z-move in the form of Bloom Doom, but her Lycanroc survived in the red. That’s one tough Pokemon! Because Lycanroc kept using Bite and Kahuna Olivia didn’t use her rock type Z-move, however, I was able to finish her Lycanroc off with two more Razor Leafs. I ended up winning my second grand trial with no casualties! Now I’m taking a short break until the next time I play, but when I do resume I’ll be heading to the Hano Grand Resort and Ula’Ula island. :)

EDIT: Welp, I ended up blacking out against Hau in Malie City. That’s the end of my challenge. I’m going to continue the playthrough with another team I thought of, but won’t be doing another challenge for awhile. Until next time. :)

BLACKOUT

There are very mysterious creatures in this world... and they are known as Pokémon. Some battle with Pokémon, some trade them, some have them participate in contests, and some just like to have them around. People and Pokémon both grow while being together.

Hunter x Hunter introduction music starts playing
And there are those who challenge themselves even further... to reach even greater heights. To battle with only the strongest Pokémon that manage to survive. They call themselves... Pokémon challenge takers!

Hey, what’s up, everyone. Thought I would revive this thread because I decided recently to start a Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge for old time’s sake and wanted to post about my playthrough here. Now, while it’s obvious that in Sw/Sh you see Pokémon in the overworld, I looked it up and it turns out you can still do a Nuzlocke challenge in this game. How you may ask? By altering the catching rule so that you can only catch the first NEW Pokémon in each area, meaning a Pokémon you haven’t caught before. The second rule of releasing a Pokémon if it faints still applies.

Here’s the most recent update to my playthrough:

Update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge:

I managed to make it through route 3, the Galar Mine, and route 4 with no casualties thanks to grinding and careful consideration on my part for matchups. Defeated Bede during this time as well. I caught a Gossifleur on route 3 which I nicknamed Gossy and he’s in boxes for now. Caught an Electrike on route 4 which I nicknamed Flash, who is now on my team. I then made it to Turffield and pretty much solo’ed Milo’s gym with Noctia, who had now evolved into a Noctowl. Got my first gym badge with relative ease thanks to this. During this time Queen evolved into a Quagsire as well, and Rook evolved into a Thwackey. After getting my first gym badge, I decided to take a peek at route 5 and caught a Spritzee, which I nicknamed Sprinkles. Taking a break there for now.

My team:

(M) Rook the Thwackey, Lv. 22
(F) Queen the Quagsire, Lv. 21
(F) Noctia the Noctowl, Lv. 21
(M) Sprinkles the Spritzee, Lv. 21
(M) Flash the Electrike, Lv. 17

Boxes:

(M) Gossy the Eldegoss, Lv. 20
(M) Wings the Wingull, Lv. 19
(M) Grubs the Skwovet, Lv. 18

Gym badges: 1

Deaths: n/a

That’s all for now, but I’ll be sure to post more updates each time I get a new gym badge. Feel free to continue to share your own challenges here, whether it’s a Nuzlocke, Wonderlocke, Egglocke, Monotype challenge, or something else entirely. And remember to give it your all!

An update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge!

Traded my newly acquired Sprinkles the Spritzee with a friend to have an Aromatisse on my team. I then proceeded to grind levels all night and my team got a lot stronger. Flash the Electrike evolved into Flash the Manectric. Once I was finished getting stronger, I proceeded to take care of Team Yell at the bridge, and then I OHKO’ed Hop’s entire team using Flash. Then I made it to Hulbury City and took on the second gym battle. Managed to easily OHKO Nessa’s entire team using Flash and the move Shock Wave. The last hit against her Drednaw was a critical too. Now I’m sitting in Hulbury with two gym badges and no deaths.

Trainer: Riley

My team:

(M) Sprinkles the Aromatisse, Lv. 31 (Holding a Shell Bell)
(F) Noctia the Noctowl, Lv. 31 (Holding a Sharp Beak)

(M) Rook the Thwackey, Lv. 30 (Holding a Miracle Seed)

Another update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge!

Entered Galar Mine No. 2 and immediately caught the first Pokémon I saw, which was a Croagunk. Nicknamed him Croaky. Then I swiftly defeated Bede in battle again. Made it to the Motostoke Outskirts and caught a Sudowoodo, which I nicknamed Woody. Then I ended up grinding levels once again for a very long time. During this time, Rook evolved into a Rillaboom and Croaky evolved into a Toxicroak. I plan on using this team for a lot of the challenge unless I want to switch a Pokémon or two out for whatever reason, or of course if someone dies. I OHKO’ed Marnie’s entire team at the Budew Drop Inn, and then faced Kabu in battle and easily won with Queen, earning my third gym badge. Now I’m set to explore more of the wild area and make my way to Hammerlocke and eventually Stow-on-Side and the fourth gym badge.

Trainer: Riley

My team:

(M) Croaky the Toxicroak, Lv. 38 (Holding an Amulet Coin)
(F) Queen the Quagsire, Lv. 38 (Holding a Sea Incense)
(M) Sprinkles the Aromatisse, Lv. 37 (Holding a Shell Bell)
(F) Noctia the Noctowl, Lv. 37 (Holding a Sharp Beak)
(M) Rook the Rillaboom, Lv. 37 (Holding a Miracle Seed)
(M) Flash the Manectric, Lv. 35 (Holding a Magnet)

Boxes:

(M) Woody the Sudowoodo, Lv. 25

Another update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge!

Went through the wild area and caught several more Pokémon, namely a Heatmor and Vanillite. Made it to Hammerlocke and took care of things there. Then I headed west through route six and caught a Helioptile as well. All three of the new catches went in boxes. Made it to Stow-on-Side and easily OHKO’ed Hop’s entire team again. Faced Allister in the fourth gym battle and won with no casualties thanks to using Noctia against his Gengar (Reminiscent of the generation two Noctowl versus Morty strategy). Then I defeated Bede for the third time and watched the events play out. Next time I play I’ll be grinding levels and heading through the Glimwood Tangle on my way to Ballonlea and the fifth gym badge.

Another update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge!

Went into the Glimwood Tangle and caught the first Pokémon I encountered, which was a Shiinotic that I nicknamed Shiny. He’s in boxes now. Proceeded to grind levels for my team until I was satisfied, and then made it through the rest of the Glimwood Tangle while battling trainers. Made it to Ballonlea and took on the fifth gym, easily winning with good strategy and switching out, and earned my fifth gym badge. Next time I play I’ll be heading through the next routes to Circhester City, home of the sixth gym badge.

Update:

My team:

(M) Rook the Rillaboom, Lv. 46 (Holding a Miracle Seed)

So I recently decided to start a Nuzlocke of Dragonball Z Team Training, which *ahem* based off FireRed. I'm having a lot of fun with it, but the type diversity, type effectiveness, BSTs, and movesets are hella scuffed. 😂 I don't know what's good against what, so in typical DBZ fashion, I just use the biggest most powerful move in my arsenal. But like I said, I'm having fun. I keep getting the giggles every time I go onto a new route and run into new fighters that I recognize. So far in terms of gameplay I've noticed:
- Fire doesn't seem strong against steel, grass, bug, or ice
- Fighting doesn't seem strong against normal or ice
- Flying doesn't seem strong against fighting or grass
- The creator really hates Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien since they don't evolve and are stuck with like a 250 BST in a game where Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku exists and has 900+ BST. My poor Z Fighters.

Also, I opted not to use nicknames since it seems weird to nickname characters who have names.

Anyway, my current team is:
Super Saiyan Vegeta - lv. 27
Great Ape (Turles) - lv. 27
Third Form Frieza - lv. 27
Imperfect Cell - lv. 27
Android 17 (the one nickname I gave; I gave him his human name of Lapis) - lv 27
Super Saiyan Future Trunks - lv. 27

In my box I have:
Saibamen
Beast Zarbon
Nail
Guldo
Android 15
Aqua
Buyon
Recoome
Dodoria
Giran

Deaths: 7 but I can just bring them all back right because that's how DBZ do

I currently have 3 badges and I believe 3 of the 7 Dragon Balls. My next plan of attack is to go through the West City (a.k.a. Celadon) Game Corner and stop the evil Pilaf Gang.

Another update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge!

Went onto route seven and took care of Hop’s team again. Caught the first encounter, a Liepard which I nicknamed Leopold. Beat the trainers there and went on to route eight. Caught a first encounter Bronzong, which I nicknamed Bronze. Made it to Circhester City, and after checking out everything I challenged the gym. Everything went okay for awhile until I faced Melony. Took out most of her team, but then I faced her Lapras with Croaky the Toxicroak. At a little above half health she got a critical hit G-Max Resonance which left Croaky in the red, and then the hail finished him off. First death of the challenge. RIP Croaky. After that I switched in to Flash and finished off her Lapras, earning my sixth gym badge. Decided to sub in Leopold for my sixth slot and grinded levels for him until my team got stronger. Now I’m about to head onto route nine and get the cycling-over-water function added to my bicycle.

Update:

Trainer: Riley

My team:

(M) Rook the Rillaboom, Lv. 53 (Holding a Miracle Seed)
(F) Noctia the Noctowl, Lv. 53 (Holding a Sharp Beak)
(F) Queen the Quagsire, Lv. 53 (Holding a Sea Incense)
(M) Flash the Manectric, Lv. 52 (Holding a Magnet)
(M) Sprinkles the Aromatisse, Lv. 53 (Holding a Shell Bell)
(M) Leopold the Liepard, Lv. 52 (Holding a Focus Sash)

Boxes:

(Genderless) Bronze the Bronzong, Lv. 38
(M) Shiny the Shiinotic, Lv. 36
(F) Ignatia the Heatmor, Lv. 30
(F) Wintria the Vanillite, Lv. 29
(M) Leo the Helioptile, Lv. 29
(M) Woody the Sudowoodo, Lv. 25
(M) Gossy the Eldegoss, Lv. 20
(M) Wings the Wingull, Lv. 19
(M) Grubs the Skwovet, Lv. 18

Deaths:

(M) Croaky the Toxicroak, Lv. 48

Gym badges: 6

Looking forward to the next update!

Another update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge!

Faced Hop in Circhester and beat him. Went onto route nine and got the ability to cycle over water added to my bicycle. Then I backtracked a bit and went over water at the places earlier in the game. Went through route nine and faced trainers with relative ease. Made it to Spikemuth and easily won my seventh gym badge. Then I returned to Hammerlocke and decided to grind levels in the wild area before facing Raihan. Unfortunately, during this time, Leopold got KO’ed by a Sudowoodo’s Counter due to my carelessness. RIP Leopold. I decided to sub in Ignatia the Heatmor as that’s who I originally wanted to use in my sixth slot. Grinded more levels for her and my team on route seven until we were stronger. Faced Raihan and easily beat his team with Rook and Queen since he didn’t have any Pokémon that could easily take them out. Now that I’ve finished the gym challenge, the exciting part comes next. About to head on the train to route ten, and make my way to Wyndon for the Champion’s Cup. I’m ready to see if this team has what it takes to defeat Leon, the unbeatable champion, and win the Nuzlocke challenge!

Update:

Trainer: Riley

My team:

(M) Rook the Rillaboom, Lv. 65 (Holding a Miracle Seed)
(F) Noctia the Noctowl, Lv. 65 (Holding a Sharp Beak)

Final update on my Pokémon Shield Nuzlocke challenge!

Went through route ten and faced the trainers there. Then I made it to Wyndon and did everything there before taking on the Champion’s Cup. Easily made my way through it. Then I took care of Macro Cosmos and went back to Wyndon Stadium to compete in the finals. Made it through each match with careful strategy and switching out. The championship match was interrupted, but I took care of it and then went to face Leon in battle with my Nuzlocke team. During this whole time I used my team in reverse order with Ignatia the Heatmor going first in every battle. Took care of his Aegislash with Ignatia, and then went on to OHKO each of his Pokémon by switching out and using super effective moves. Finally switched in to Flash for his G-max Charizard. Managed to get it in the red with Max Lightning from Flash, but then took a G-Max Flare, and the leftover fires made Flash faint! RIP Flash. Quickly switched into Noctia and used Air Slash and Uproar while he used a full restore. His Charizard returned to normal and took out Noctia with its fire move. RIP Noctia. Switched into Queen the Quagsire and, as he was charging a Solar Beam, managed to faint his Charizard with Aqua Tail! I won the challenge!!!

Champion Riley

Glad I was able to accomplish this and beat a Sw/Sh Nuzlocke challenge on my first try! Thanks to being careful, using good strategy, forming a good team, and prior experience, I was able to win. Done with challenges for now, but the next time I take one on I’ll post about it here! Feel free to continue to post about any Pokémon-related challenges you take on, and remember, go beyond! Plus ULTRA!

I made my way through the Game Corner basement and defeated Pilaf and his gang. Afterward I attended to the West City Gym where I rather awkwardly discovered that the Leader was none other than Bulma. Yes, Bulma. The wife of one of my fighters and the mother of another. That Bulma. On the plus side, if Vegeta or Trunks had any qualms about fighting her, they kept those to themselves and put up an admirable fight. Also, she used a team of Bug Cell, Imperfect Cell and Perfect Cell, so who knows what she's been getting up to since her husband decided to go off on an adventure with a random 10 year old. Following my victory over the West City Gym, I headed back to climb God's Tower where Kami was being threatened by both the Pilaf Gang who were hunting the Dragon Balls and Garlic Jr who escaped from the Dead Zone. I helped him out and then headed down Cycling Road to Ginger Town (aka Fuchsia City).

Current Team:
Super Saiyan Vegeta - lv. 32
Great Ape (Turles) - lv. 32
Final Form Frieza - lv. 31
Imperfect Cell - lv. 31
Android 17: Lapis - lv 31
Super Saiyan Future Trunks - lv. 31

In my box I have:
Saibamen
Beast Zarbon
Nail
Guldo
Android 15
Aqua
Buyon
Recoome
Dodoria
Giran
Zangya

Deaths: 7
Badges: 4
Dragonballs: 3

Bumping this thread because I decided to start a Pokemon Yellow (3DS VC version) Nuzlocke. I'm just using the basic Nuzlocke rules of a Pokemon is dead if they faint, you must nickname it, and you can only catch 1 Pokemon per area (and it has to be the first new one you see). This is my first Nuzlocke so I don't want to get more complicated than that. I literally just started this tonight and am playing right now. My crew so far is:

- Sparkster (Pikachu)
- Tomato (Pidgey) from Route 1
- Mindthief (Rattata) from Route 2
- Spike (Nidoran M) from Route 22
- Pea Soup (Metapod) from Viridian Forest

Tomato was level 2 when I got him (argh) so it was so touch and go to level him up for the first few levels. I actually had a battle where he got down to 1HP. That was terrifying.

Edit: I always make sure to get a Caterpie instead of a Metapod for the Pokemon I want to be Butterfree so I can have Tackle. But fate said I get Pea Soup. I am now at the point where I can fight Brock but I don't feel ready. That Onix is extra scary thinking about the dead rule. Gonna grind for a while before I give it a shot. I've got Pea Soup up to level 9, so it'll evolve and be able to actually attack soon. I think I'll level everyone up to level 11 maybe?
