can you imagine trying to buy and sell villagers without it though? everyone would be asking for crazy amounts for all kinds of villagers... I think its necessary to organize the buying and selling of villagers without it descending into chaos. Like yeah it does make a lot villagers "unpopular" and voided in a lot of cycling threads, but there are multiple cycling threads that don't automatically void them, or give plenty of opportunity to get those villagers.

also if you care enough to post in the LF thread and just be honest if you don't have the Bells for villagers, a lot of the times cyclers will be lenient too..... so I don't know what the problem with the list is

This isn't about favoritism... It's so we can establish a system for buying, selling, and trading. To be honest, if this list were a reflection of Favoritism, the tiers would all look much different. It would possibly be shaped to Alexi's liking, for example, all of her favorite villagers in order from most to least. It could also be built on polls taken to find out who the site favorites are based on a number of votes. This list was carefully constructed through studying and monitoring the site's buying/trading/selling threads as well as the looking for threads, and cycling threads. It was based off of the people actually looking for specific villagers, who aren't necessarily even anyone's favorites. Everyone has a different opinion, even if their consensus is the same, and this does not reflect the list. I have my favorites, but they aren't all necessarily number one. Some people have favorites that are at the very, very, bottom of the barrel. Favoritism would mean that this list was based off of how many people like each animal, and that is not how this list was built. Once these people get the animal they've been hunting, they'll no longer make posts about it, and then this will change the list, because the posts will begin to die down. If this animal was where it was on the list simply because it was a favorite animal among the majority here, this list would still look similar to Houndoomed's, because those animals were all popular at the time. If they had been favorites rather than just popular at the TIME, they would most likely still be favorites, and the list wouldn't change so often. That's how I look at it. This is like a small economy. Supply and demand. When the demand dies down, so does the supply. There is no longer need for so much supply when there is little demand. It's unethical. That is what causes these changes, if this was favoritism, this list would most likely change about once a month. MAYBE.

Well of course it's favouritism. It's based off of everyone's favourite villagers, and who wants who. More people favour Julian so of course he's the first on the list but not too many people would want truffles so she's last. I mean it only makes sense to have a popularity list, It especially helps me estimate a price for who I'm selling.

Wonderful! I'm looking forward to seeing what changes are made to tier 1, I always like to see if your thoughts coincide with mine....for the most part they actually do!

When I first joined TBT and looked through Houndoom's and now Alexi's, I also used to think it was based off of people's favorites.
But there's so much more to it.
Think of the Tier List as a stock market. While the stock market alters daily, the tiers change weekly. The list works in the way that it changes based on what has been selling throughout the week; Think of a restaurant, some villagers were selling like hot cakes the past week, while some were left in the warmers far longer (or maybe even gone to waste/void). It deals with the demand and fluctuations of each and every villager available in ACNL and it reflects at the end of the week on Sunday's updates.
Lately, there's been people challenging Alexi's list, but how about y'all try parsing through several pages of cycling/selling/trading threads and try to truncate it into a singular list?
So, instead of casually waltzing into the VTP and thrashing Alexi's work because you disagree with it and don't have anything helpful or constructive, just don't say anything. Of course, your entitled to your opinion, it is our 1st Amendment (at least here in the US, but it is a basic human right), but whatever happened to "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything"?

Lmao, @ the bold: I was definitely going to post that. Wolfgang #1, tier 1<3. Some of the ducks and monkeys would be out of tier 5/6, marina zucker and octavian would not be as high as they are.. yeah overall, if this list was from my opinion and I just completely ignored the entire VTP it'd look so much differently.

rekt like the others said though, this list is just an easier way of determining prices for villagers. I don't necessarily think everybody here is playing favouritism. I'm sure we all have villagers we love, but just aren't popular among the community. I was going to comment that if it was favouritism i'm sure Alexi would make wolfgang tier one, but I saw somebody got there first, LOL. Alexi spends a lot of time on this list, and looks through looking threads and all sorts. So if this was based on favouritism I'm sure she wouldn't need to do that at all she could practically just guess. But fair enough, we all have our opinions.
