Why do some cycling threads require a user to stay at least a month or so before claiming a popular villager? What if those are their legitimate dream villagers, and the cycler just crushes their dreams by giving to someone else? Not new-user friendly imo.
It's to prevent selling or trading of that villager, because there is another person who would keep them in their town forever. If you don't want your dreams constantly crushed, maybe you should settle down- grab an avatar, a siggy with your dreamies listed, and have a little fun on the forums... 49 posts, no wifi-feedback, and you've been here since October? Hm.
Besides, not every cycler does this. There are enough threads where if you don't like the rules on one, you still have plenty of options so you're not losing out.
In the end, they can do what they want and everyone else has the choice to either follow their rules or leave.

So new people aren't equal as the old guys? Many oldies are probably inactive or already completed their dream villagers, and many newbies want to get a shot for their dreamies too, which is quite difficult because of the inconsistency of the other cycling threads. I'm not new, but i've lurked a lot and i'm starting to question the reputation of some cyclers, as they're pretty much thinking negatively of the newbies while being friendly and all with the old members. I'd prefer to hear the opinion of those type of cyclers—I'd like to see this cleared up.
Why don't you try PM-ing the members of that specific cycling thread then? I'm sure they would be more than happy to answer your questions. And anyways - you've been a member since October, you meet the 3 month criteria. ALSO, how hard is it to put "Julian is my number 1 dreamie" in bold in your signature?
I've stayed up all night many times trying to get villagers through giveaways or raffles. Every time there seems to be a glitch and the winner is........?
My main town was started June 10, 2013. I keep most all of them. Mathilda and I just recently parted ways and I picked up a void from a friend and moved a villager I love into main town from second town. Which, BTW, is every bit as nice as my main.
Who is to say that just because I don't have it plastered on my signature that I would be an unfit winner. Maybe I'm having the misfortune of just seeing shady cycles but this has become too much of a coincidence. This will probably hit the cyclers airways and I'm totally nailed.
I give up. Tired of hearing excuses of TT accidents only to find they gave to another cycler who is a friend, or they "forgot" about the giveaway and the lucky winner is......
There are way too many people jumping on the villager money train and unfortunately this is hurting reputable ones. Back to my main point, assuming someone is unworthy because they don't list dreamies is absurd.
No. No it's not.
If you take the time to put your dreamies into your signature then it means that we know you've been looking for a while and that he/she's gonna go to a good home.
Asking for dreamy proof is common practice now, and should be.. I've given villagers to people who didn't have them listed and then notice them being sold..
Why should my hard work lead to someone else's profit, and someone else has lost out on a free dreamy? Ridiculous, and I don't like it at all.
As for raffles, I hate them as they often go wrong and many new cyclers tend to be useless at holding giveaways, and also want to auction the popular villagers.. But they all die before too long or they get sick of cycling.. Which means that only the decent cyclers are the ones who are left.. The ones who are truly dedicated to only making people happy through giving them their dreamies - nothing more.
A looking for prefix will just clog the whole board up lol
This.
Also, a single looking-for thread is better than separate threads because instead of looking through 70+ Marshal requests, we can just search for one with the thread and find the best offer, or just find whoever is online or can take the villager at that time.
If the staff ever wanted to experiment with the idea, and enabled it for 24 hours, you would regret asking for a looking-for prefix within an hour - just like everyone else.
actually id like to hear your opinion.nope. you dont know my brain, dont get me started.
