What Are You Happy About Today?

The past week has been a rollercoaster, but here were some highlights!

- Saw my boyfriend today! I was sooo happy c: I haven't seen him since my birthday due to adult life and him being sick. ;;

- Quit my toxic job on Monday. I felt so stinkin' relieved the second I left the store. Like, a mental weight was lifted from me, it felt like. I'm onto bigger and better things after 3 years!

- Got my last paycheck on Wednesday, but.. I spent it on groceries and stuff I needed, since I knew I'd have no income for a while. It wasn't that big of a check, but it was still something!

- The AC:NL event here is super nostalgic for me. It makes me happy because it reminds me of simpler times. When I was in school, not worrying about work or bills xD

- Got a super cute commission from @MrBox ! They did such a great job drawing my OC and incorporated Mikey in such a cute way c: <3

  • I took the strawberry cupcakes I baked on Tuesday into work and they went down so well with the rest of the department. 🍓
  • My partner and I practised one of our hobbies together.
  • After, we ordered dinner (I found my new favourite kebab shop!) and we started watching the new Avatar The Last Airbender live action TV show.

Thursday, March 7th 2024
  • I went to a board game event in the evening and caught up with friends. The guy who runs it also brought a newcomer over to where a friend and I were sat, and we happily invited him to join us. He seemed really nice!

  • So, Wednesday through Friday we had forty human biology pupils begin their practical assignments. These projects count for 20-25% of their final grade, depending on what level they're at. I had all of the materials prepared for each pupil's assignment in advance - this included everything from germinating mung beans, growing algae, making up solutions (acids, buffers, dyes, etc), calling around other schools to see what we could borrow, etc. Still, I spent these three days constantly on my feet due to many last-minute reagent/equipment requests, helping resolve problems, and assisting with calculations. After the pupils went home on Friday, the two human biology teachers and I were cleaning up and they both sincerely thanked me for the work I put in supporting their students.
  • I went out for sushi with a friend after work. The restaurant did really well-priced bento boxes. I got one containing x2 nigiri (salmon/tuna), x2 maki (cucumber), x4 gyuniku maki, x2 rice balls, x3 chicken gyoza, and miso soup for just £18 ($23 US). 🍣
  • Afterwards, we went back to her house and binge-watched Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I remember looking at my watch and seeing it was 1:40 AM, and I promised my partner I'd be home by 8 AM to take in a morning delivery, so I didn't get much sleep. 😓
  • She also loaned me her copy of Bloodborne, so I'm looking forward to finding time to start that!

Saturday, March 9th 2024
  • Our new pet axolotls arrived in the morning! They're not yet named and the tank needs a lot of work. Please excuse the cloudiness, the sand has been newly added.
  • My partner and I were invited to do a dollhouse-themed escape room with my best friend and her husband. We were three minutes off the best time (and the clock had already started because we were late, so we think if it weren't for that we would have been top)!
  • Afterwards, we played two rounds of mini golf followed by dinner. I got a delicious chicken tikka masala. 🍛
  • Came home and watched more of ATLA. It is so much better than I expected it to be.

I’m happy that I was able to get enough Silver yesterday to get a bunny balloon. It’s red and I’m going to try again for some purple and blue balloons.
I’m happy that I had time to work on my entry for the Adieu , hellish home and it was accepted. Work today is going well. It’s going faster then it did yesterday.
I’m excited to have the next two days off. I plan on working on some things for the new leaf event . Hope everyone has a great week.

Well, this was yesterday mostly. I don't post here often.

I got a brand new Wii from a flea market yesterday where I have been wanting one since my old Wii stopped working in May of 2023. Now I can play online Mario Kart Wii again! (I'll still do 8DX, I'm not burnt out of that game yet)

I must preface this by saying that today's happy post for me is pretty much entirely video game based.

- So the other day I was having a conversation with Chibi.Hoshi from here, and I ended up ordering my first ever set of AC Amiibo cards, the Sanrio set in fact! They finally arrived today and I'm just so happy as I've never had Amiibo cards for the series before until now. 💚

- Because of this, I was able to move Etoile into my New Leaf town, and I'm literally so happy about it! I also FINALLY unlocked the Fortune Teller Shop after YEARS of playing ACNL! Both of these things really made me happy. 💚

- I also caught a full odds shiny Drifloon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus this morning, and I'm so so happy about that as well!! I was wandering through the first area at night and noticed that it looked to be a different color, and sure enough it was! 💚

- I just wanted to end this post by saying that I'm super, super, SUPER grateful to the staff for hosting this event to say goodbye to the ACNL online servers. As someone who joined the forum back in the New Leaf days and returned for New Horizons, I really appreciate it. More than I can put into words. I've been to many other forums and sites in the past, but TBT is the last safe haven that I truly admire. So the staff really should give themselves a pat on the back for this. I've made so many friends and grown up SO much since I first started using this site, and it will always have a special place in my heart. 💚 💚 💚

My parents and I watched an episode of Hunter x Hunter this morning! (I think I forgot to mention it yesterday oops, but we did watch one on Saturday too!) Also saw some Youtube videos with them this evening and caught up with Grian’s latest Hermitcraft episode! First we had the fisherman arc and now I think he’s entering his bureaucracy arc lmao

I had a blast participating in the trivia session on Discord today!! ;v; I’m happy with how I did, I learned a few more things about New Leaf, and loved the pet pic spam and chaos in-between questions

I went on the Butterfly Discovery island tour in New Leaf with xSuperMario64x, pochy, and xlisapisa!! I’d never actually gotten the chance to do tours online with anybody before, and it was a lot of fun ;w; And now the only Town Initiative I have left to complete for this event is finding a minimum turnip price of 200!

And I’ve spent most of the rest of today working on my Picture Perfect entry! I need to come up with a couple more ideas for it, but I got a huge amount of progress done on it and I’m liking how it’s turning out so far! ^^

☆ My partner and I went to Pets at Home to shop for our new axolotls. Our animals are primarily my responsibility and my preference is for all natural tanks, so we picked up multiple pieces of rosewood and some more aquatic plants. Also stone that they claim is natural but I don't quite believe.

☆ Work was hectic today, but some highlights were the student teacher bringing in mini homemade empire biscuits (I ate three!) and a lovely comment I overheard about myself. After delivering a requisition within an hour, when I had 2 days to do so, I walked away and then overheard the teacher tell her class, "He's a star. We have the best science technician in the world." 🥰

☆ I came home to receive a grocery delivery. The delivery guy brought it into my kitchen to help. Usually they aren't allowed to take it beyond the front door but I guess he saw I was exhausted and overwhelmed so offered to help. After he left, I dropped a ton of drink cans on the floor. My girlfriend dragged me to the sofa, made me sit down, threw my favourite blanket on top of me and told me to stay there while she made me a cup of tea and finished putting the groceries away. I don't deserve this woman. 🖤

☆ I was supposed to be at a (hobby-related) class tonight but I decided to spend this evening taking some time to myself, because I got no downtime at the weekend. I've been in the tub with a book and a glass of a wine for the past hour and a half. 🛀

The ACNL event has completely revived my motivation to get the Ikada trophy in Desert Island Escape! I am so close and only missing like 4 hard levels! I’ll do them tonight and my trophy room will be complete at last!

YALL BETTER WATCH OUT BC MY SCORE FOR MAP 1 IS GETTING SUPER HIGH I KNOW 60,000 IS POSSIBLE AND IM SOO CLOSE WITH THESE LUCKY ROLLS

What I did yesterday on 3/10/24:
- I slept well today and felt energized throughout the day as a result.
- Played AC: WW and Derwin moved to my town. Also, I'm glad that Walker moved out because he's a very forgettable and bland-looking dog villager, especially compared to Cherry and Cookie.
- Cooked some pasta for dinner that turned out great.
- Listened to some music.
- Worked out at the gym.

And what I did today on 3/11/24:
- Worked up a good sweat at the gym again.
- Completed the Blueberry Academy DLC in Pokémon Scarlet and the Area Zero Underdepths. I even managed to catch the legendary Pokémon Terapagos and look forward to catching some more in the postgame.
- Had some chocolate cake for dessert that tasted yummy.
- Worked on a sketch to practice figure drawing. I plan on using some reference photos to draw Nintendo characters soon, I just want to get an iPad for digital art. Once I have one, I'll start an art thread and take commissions.

I took my bike down to the water. It's not the most beautiful scenery, but proud that I pushed myself that far. I don't have good cardio right now.

Also I bought myself a new PlayStation controller I needed. It's extremely satisfying to pay for things as an adult with my own money. My parent still offered to cover it (was originally meant to be a christmas gift, she bought the wrong one).

I told her not to worry about it though. It did bite my wallet. These things are expensive.

So i previously posted in the 'Whats bothering you?' thread about issues I've had for 15+ years. (Migraines, headaches, dizziness, vertigo, panic attacks and vertigo when driving, lots of fun stuff). Well finally the mystery has been solved!

I have a binocular vision disorder, which can cause all of the problems. I'm getting some prism glasses made, which the eye doc said I'll have to wear all the time and then go back to check for needed adjustments.

I'm super happy to finally figure out what is wrong, and super happy to have a way to fix it! Wish I'd figured it out before 15 years of craziness, but still - mystery solved!

Happy to have had a great day off. We took Aurora to the park for her morning walk. Played puzzle league on New Leaf and posted my score on the Hi score hijinks . Was very happy with the score I was able to get.
We booked our hotel for our trip next month and so excited to go. Aurora will be coming with us on our trip.
Excited to see what my heart balloon will turn into. Had a nice relaxing evening. Took Aurora for a walk and we got to see my bestie and her new puppy,
Played ACNH this evening. So happy to be off again tomorrow.
Hope everyone had a great day.

I haven't posted in this thread in a few days, but I've actually been having fun doing some activities for the Farewell to New Leaf event! I'll recap the last few days. :)

March 9, 2024
  • Feel free to skip this point. Not a lot happened on this day, but on my way home from work, I was genuinely surprised to have spotted a BMW M5 (E60)! Which like many other cars I've spotted in the past, so happened to pass through an intersection lol. I first said to myself, "huh, it's a series 5 BMW. I wonder if it's an M5 for once?". Lo and behold, when I saw the M badge and its exhaust at the rear, I then said to myself, "NO WAY, IT'S ACTUALLY AN M5 FOR ONCE!". Identifying BMWs in general have never been my strongest suit, so I'm taking this as an absolute win! 🚗
  • I watched the 2024 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The only real highlight for me was that someone had to temporarily step in for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari at basically last minute notice due to appendicitis (which by the way, surgery went well and already on his way to recovering!). Oliver Bearman who competes in F2 (Formula 2) was the one who took the drive and I was really impressed by how well he performed in the race! Starting in 11th and finishing in 7th place in his Formula 1 debut with Ferrari at the age of 18 years old is absolutely nothing to scoff at. It's really good to hear the encouraging words from the team when they're typically fighting for podiums and wins. 🏎️ Provided their car is competitive, not being unlucky, and not screwing up with their pit strategies every other race lol.

  • A funny point, but it was cold during this day and I liked it lol.
  • While work was busy for me (and also tiring oof), I felt good getting through my shift.
  • Feel free to skip this point. As I was carefully backing out a vehicle after servicing it at work, I have yet again spotted a Mitsubishi 3000GT. :ROFLMAO: It wasn't too long ago when I last saw it!
  • I finally got around to doing some activities for the event! Because of this, I opened up New Leaf after not touching it since October of last year. I got lots of nostalgia considering my town is literally 9 years old. Anyways, I mostly spent time trying to complete the town initiatives in which @/xSuperMario64x helped me out! He sent me perfect fruit, went to Club LOL together, and even went on an island tour where we popped a bunch of balloons! Aside from that, we spent time doing other stuff in New Leaf which included throwing beans and wacking each other's heads with a bug net. 😂
March 11, 2024
  • The weather was pleasant being fairly cold and sunny!
  • College was okay. Managed to complete a few things.
  • I got to complete a couple more tasks for the town initiatives activity and even a great score for Desert Island Escape! I need to get the photos sorted out and I should be good there. Admittedly, I played Puzzle League as well and did good, but I think I can bump it up a little further hehe.
  • I know it's been a running theme of this post, but it makes me so happy that the Farewell to New Leaf event is going on. It legitimately reignited my interest in the game again much like back when the Welcome Amiibo update came out in 2016! Hearing 8pm and Main Street again hit me like a truck lol. New Leaf is what introduced me to Animal Crossing in the first place (and what also made me start drawing in 2015!), so it holds a special place in my heart. 💙

Today's been a great start to the week!

- I got up today and was productive at work. Finished something that I set as a goal. 📊

- Went to martial arts practice and worked on my techniques. I reminisced about how long I've been doing that and how it's going to look going into the future. 🥋

- Came home and gave my kitties some special food. They love me now!

- Last, but not least, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Chicago Bulls 127-92!! That's three in a row now. I don't think they'll be going anywhere in the playoffs, but it's still always a good day when they win for me. 🏀 🔥

I was able to finish my entry for Picture Perfect today!! It took a lot of time to finish, but I had a blast working on it, and I think it’s made for a very cute page in one of my sketchbooks. There’s something really nice about having a physical scrapbook page dedicated to a game I have a lot of fond memories of.

And thanks to -Blue- letting me visit for turnip prices, I’m all finished with the Town Initiatives for this event!!

Watched SmallishBeans’ new Minecraft SOS episode with my family this evening!

I had time to play through Day 3 of Cozy Grove! I earned several badges, added to my collections, and figured out how cooking works so I could feed my birds, one of which gave me an egg which THEN allowed me to feed my Rainbow Cat!! Speaking of cats, I’m trying to lure another one in—I haven’t looked up any of the combinations yet, so I don’t know what (if anything) I’ll find tomorrow! 🤞

I was able to grab a second mystery heart balloon before they turned tonight, and got orange and cyan ones!! Hoping to get three more by the end of the event!

I have some errands and an appointment early tomorrow, but assuming nothing else comes up, I'm hoping to spend the rest of the day doing nothing after that. 🙏

Today was very uneventful, so I will do yesterday's, since I didn't get around to posting it then, and talk a little bit about the rest of the week.

Yesterday...
* I had sausage for lunch
* APOLLO GAVE ME HIS PIC IN NEW LEAF ^_^ Now I have it in WW, NL, and NH! 🥳🥳🥳 (I know that April Fool's Day event is coming up in NL, but I wanted to get it the traditional way first)

. . .

Also, I am not sure when -- probably tomorrow, Wednesday, or Thursday...my dad should be going to the guardianship lawyer and see if we can proceed with the process. I may or may not have to go see the psychiatrist. I actually want to, so I can get some insight of my overall mental condition from a professional's point of view. Hopefully he keeps me posted, so I can keep you guys posted.

The only thing that really bothers me about going to the psychiatrist, is my grandma taking me - and her telling them to include Christian scriptures, since the one in my hometown is a religious one. It's supposed to be optional, but I feel like it is something my grandmother would force on me.

(Note: I am an atheist, but she would have a **** fit if she found out. She is very forceful about her religious views. Honestly, a relationship with God and Jesus stress me out. Anyway, sorry for bringing religion up. I just needed to get that off my chest, since there is a connection of it to the psychiatrist building in my hometown.)

- Decided to stay home from uni today because ngl I was feeling exhausted from yesterday (didn't get any sleep before a LONG day at work), and instead got some work done this morning. I wrote about 600 words of my dissertation and completed an engagement activity due in on thursday, so at least I was productive. 😅 I calculated that if I write the same amount for 15 days I should complete my dissertation in around that time! So hoping to do this over easter break...

- Bought some toiletries for my upcoming trip yesterday. I keep my clear liquids bag for travel stocked at all times and tend to just renew stuff when I'm running out, so i didn't have much to buy, just some mini shampoo and cleansing wipes. But it's good to be prepared! I have work the day before I fly out, so won't have time then to pack.
