What are your rules on playing ACNH? Here’s mine

my only two rules are to do my best to not time-travel and to avoid gameplay spoilers as much as i can

Pretty much the same as other AC games, at least in my main/first town in each game:

No time travel.
Not using guides.
No accepting silver/gold tools, money bags, or rare/expensive gifts (like thrones and crowns).
...but exchanging regular items & fruit with friends is fine.

Also, I'm not planning on using Amiibos to scan any certain villagers in, at least not for a long time. I'll let the villagers come naturally and randomly.

This is kind of the opposite, but my rule is to make sure I reset and get a fruit I'm happy with! I didn't do it for new leaf and I regret it (yes, I ended up with pears...). My other one is to choose things more based around aesthetics that will go together well, since my new leaf town isn't as cohesive as I'd like...

No time traveling
- if I miss an event, it will come around again and will give me more incentive to play the game longer
Don't worry about completing the catalog - just buy what I like
Don't rush to max out my house size
- in New Leaf, I did and wish I never had, b/c I found I like the smaller houses/fewer rooms
Take my time and enjoy the process

No time traveling and to actually enjoy playing in my town.
I'll probably reset for a yellow or green airpot, but thats it.

I’ll still be playing as a purist. The only way I know how to play AC.

But this time around, I won’t worry too much about completing the catalog.

Same rules for myself except I might accept hacked items if I can?t get them myself or amiibo posters.

I like the turnip funds rules. I wasn?t into the stalk market in New Leaf because there was so much bells around from duping and inflated trades but being as we have a fresh economy; turnips will have a purpose again!

None. I just plan to purely play how I feel in the moment and what works for my schedule.

The only rule would be probably one copy/one game. I doubt I'll be buying multiple consoles/games like I did for New Leaf. Rather just stick to one town for the long haul this time I think. If anything, I need to fully finish the first before even thinking about a lite/second copy.

- Not using guides for at least the first few months, if not longer.
- No trading with others online for at least the first few months.

That's the main things. I just want to discover and earn things mostly myself. Even when I do start trading, it's only going to be for things I can't get on my own due to any regional holidays or DLC like NL had, or anything that requires Pocket Camp.

Try and meet all villagers before settling down! (◍︎˃̶ᗜ˂̶◍︎)✩︎
Just try to go with the flow - or against it with terraforming ( ∩︎՞ټ՞∩︎) ンフ~~
Do as much as you can whilst relaxing and have fun!!!
The only thing I've done is TT and none of the other stuff, not that I'm against that but I just never did it. I don't think I'd do that or feel the need to do that on this game given the amount of freedom but let's all hit that wall together and see what comes of it ☆

I think I?ll try to stop myself from resetting if I get pears as my ?town? fruit. I freaking always get pears :p

- First rule is to have fun :D
- Second rule is not to reset for maps or villagers, just choose from what I'm given
- Third rule is no time travelling even if it is tempting to get my house expanded right after I pay off my loan
- Fourth rule is to try to donate more things and send more letters! See what all this game has to offer this time around
- Fifth rule is to not rush or grind too much! Just enjoy the game as it comes and savor every moment I have with it :) The achievements will come when they come, it is not a race

No time travelling except for Holidays if I'm busy on the actual day.
No restarting for perfect villagers.
No looking up unlock requirements of... of the stuff.
I'm going to change my town tune and flag, I never have in past games.
Play the game to have fun.

My rule is to not time travel. I feel like it ruined the game for me in new l eaf

No rules for me haha, i'll just be playing the most relaxed and fun way for myself. If anything I do at least want to try to reset for a few desires, otherwise i'd like to enjoy myself the way I can relax <3

Honestly, same rules I had for New Leaf.

The main rule is that I don't time travel (though I do time-realign, because otherwise I'd be playing after all the shops are shut! No changing the date though, just the hour.)
I also won't be getting hacked/illegitimate items (especially tools) off other people, because that's just lame. Though to be fair, probably gonna avoid trading with anyone except a few select friends this time!
I also don't fret too hard about the villagers in my town, or what fruit I have. Gotta have the blue airport, though.

However, for New Horizons specifically, I'm also not gonna just order furniture off other people like I did with New Leaf. I half expected that some of that furniture was hacked anyway (even though it was just random specific things like "cream sofa" and "large bookcase") - basically becoming illegitimate through association. I'm getting the items I want myself, be it from my own island or from friends who I know won't be cheating their way through the game.

I don’t want to time travel for as long as I can, considering there is always something to do/work for! There’s more to (genuinely) accomplish on your own here, so I wanna do my best :)

I only allowed myself to buy 1 amiibo villager card (lolly) to give myself a guaranteed lifeline in my village lol, I had her in Wild World and New Leaf <3

I honestly don’t wanna terraform TOO much.. I do wanna reset to find the perfect OG map (and fruit) with good R.Svs location, good cliffs, and good beach rocks... then I will probably create some cool waterfalls of my own and a re-patch or small stream here or there. Otherwise, I want the terrain to be pretty natural and close to the original!

I always have a tendency of logging into my game every day or so and doing the same handful of things then dippin’ skrrt.. I really wanna challenge myself to set time aside to explore the same collecting, brainstorming, perfecting, and just appreciating my island/neighbors yah know... after all, the new graphics make it a beautiful place to just be blow up on your tv and enjoy being still

My rule is to have fun.

THIS.

That aside, my personal "rules" are not very common:
~ Actually spend time landscaping my town
~ Actually put effort into completing most of the furniture catalagoue (excluding things I'll never want)
~ Actually complete all rooms of my house, plus 2 or 3 houses more
~ Actually try to be best friends with all (desired) villagers
