What is the meaning behind your island name?

I chose the name Ōkunoshima, which is the rabbit island in Japan!

The whole island is overrun with bunnies! I love the sound of it, and love bunnies + Japan.. it's a popular tourist place w/ hiking trails and various sites to visit, you can also buy treats/food to give the bunnies while you explore!

(I totally missed the opportunity to have my island be just bunny residents )

I named my island Nara after the city of deer (in Japan). Half of my villagers are deer and my 2 island reps are named after deer so this is about as close as I'll get to the real Nara anytime soon

I've tried to tried to mimic the real Nara by adding some stone and zen fences here and there, as well as a few of the famous/common tourist destinations and am happy with how it's turning out!

My island is called Moonbrew! One of the main reasons for resetting my island was because I wanted to make it witchy forest themed and the name didn't fit. I knew I wanted Moon in the name, but it's commonly used so I also wanted something a bit different sounding and witchy. The brew portion came to be because in witchcraft it's quite common to leave out water under a full moon so it charges. Plus I just felt like Moonbrew sounded very witchy.

Our island name is Bermuda II (2) because my boyfriend’s Dad was born and raised in that country and since they’re both islands it fit perfectly

Lazuliet! Its named after Lapis Lazuli and Violet (the gem and the color/flower)

I really wanted a unique town name this time around. My first two towns were Hogsmeade (Harry Potter reference) and Forks (Twilight reference). My NL town was Lilywood, which I loved but also wasnt super unique.

I also helped name 2 other towns - my boyfriends town of Viridia (like Viridian Green) and a friends town of Isotide (iso-isolated, and tide). Twas fun!

My town name is Papyrus. I named it after my all-time favorite character from Undertale, since not only is he my favorite, I really like the sound of it as well. I also started theming my island (it started accidentally) after Undertale, so it works well.

it's actually spelt edelwood in the cartoon, but I was afraid people would think my island was pronounced 'eedl-wood' instead of 'aydl-wood' lol

Mine is my name + mountain in korean (it also means carbonic acid lol). I was also close to naming it Santan which is coconut milk in malay, or Tanpopo, after the japanese spaghetti western movie Tampopo lol. I ended up naming it Tansan because I felt like it was more relevant to me.

You scroll through tons of these 'what should my island/village be called' or 'rate my island/village name' threads, seeing the names people come up with that attempt to be so fancy or profound or deep. Then you come across Poop Land, which hilariously is a breath of fresh air.

It wasn’t intentional but I managed to make a reference to OtGW in my island name lol. I just watched the series a couple months ago and honestly it’s awesome

mine’s “axolotl” - there’s not really any meaning behind it other than the fact that i love axolotls and dr. shrunk aha. i initially was planning on naming my island something else but after coming across “axolotl” in an island name suggestion thread, i immediately was drawn to it and went with it! i think this is the only moment in history where i’m actually content with a decision i made :’)
