Would you eat a dog

I mean in the end meat is meat and people shouldn't be judged because of some food they eat. Sometime it's either eat or starve.

but besides that if it's prepared correctly and wasn't a pet stolen from a family (which actually happens alot by the way) or a puppy/mom of puppies I would try it

It’s sick. The only reason it’s a cultural difference is because those countries are so ****ing poor they have no food. Evolve please, we don’t even have to pretend and ask because most of us have become civilized and should know better.
This looks like you're saying Chinese people are uncivilized and sick people but too be honest I've seen worse than people just eating dogs... just go to walmart on black friday.

If I was starving, yes. If I had no other option, yes. If it was any other day, no. I would only eat a dog in a life or death situation.

Blatantly racist statement, basically calling Chinese people uncivilized when dog meat has been eaten there for thousands of years. You should educate yourself and "evolve".

No, but people who eat meat but get angry about someone talking about eating a dog are hypocrites. Either all animals are free game to eat or none are imo. If you'd eat any sort of "regular" meat (cow, chicken, pig) then you can't get mad at someone who eats "socially unacceptable" meat.

How? It all started because they had no food. Then it continued as an exotic tradition.

It’s sick to eat your pets. Call me names, get mad at me for voicing my opinion. I really don’t care. I’m done commenting.

Rabbits are pets. Are you against people eating rabbits too? People also keep chickens as pets. Animals serve many purposes. I'm not calling you any names uwu

If i wasnt a vegetarian then yes. All meat is the same, most people just wouldent eat a dog bc they think theyre cute

if youre not chinese you dont understand it ig

there's no way in hell i'd eat a dog, however it's culture for others in asian countries

Sure, I'd give it an honest try.

Btw. cows are much cuter than dogs.

I don’t feel the need to eat dogs since there’s other kind of meat available more readily. If it was served I would be willing to try though. I think of it as the same as rabbit meat which I’ve had when i went to a fancy dinner for a volunteer appreciation and didn’t know I’d be served that... I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat it but I wouldn’t mind it. I get that people who see dogs as pet would feel repulsed, but to me it’s the same as with pigs and cows and rabbits and horses... they’re all animals that are adorable but I wouldn’t think too much about it when eating

No.

I do however, find the reaction to the Yulin Festival hypocritical considering there isn't the same reaction towards the majority of other meats. If it were "normal" to eat Dog rather than have them as pets in the west, there would be no outrage, it's a cultural difference. I am outraged by Yulin, but I'm outraged by the rest also.

Eating dogs is sick? What if someone doesn't have dogs as pets, is it OK then?

Lots of people have chickens, pigs and fish as pets, very few people seem to think that's sick.

no bc it would feel really weird and i dont like the idea of eating dogs. it's a social thing but uh no i dont think dogs are food, theyre pets only. but i think i would have a hard time eating pigs if i had pigs as pets too,for me at least it's kinda about ur relationship w the animals as well as culture.

this reminds me of when the whole "everything is actually horse meat" scandal was going on(maybe it was only a thing in certain parts of europe lol idk) people were upset about eating horse bc it's weird and not really something people eat (also obviously bc being tricked to eat something you dont want to eat sucks and being scammed also sucks)
like people arent as upset when it turns out theyve been eating normal cow meat instead of something fancier bc both r Edible Things while horse isnt

I mean... it's just meat, isn't it? I wouldn't turn it down if it was served to me but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to order it either

The fun part of that scandal is that a lot of people actually do eat horse, at least here(Norway), one of the countries which got all worked up about it. It's not widely common across Europe anymore, but here, and prob other countries too(I know it's fairly common in Italy for one), they're commonly used in various common dishes(For Norway its salty sausages haha). More an issue that you didn't know it was horse, like you mentioned. And some people here, mostly vegetarians and people who adore horses will abstain due to their bond with that animal so obviously being tricked is bad for them.

But yeah, I eat horse, despite literally living at a stable and in general loving horses, cause the horses that get turned into meat never are someones beloved riding horse. A neighbour of me put one of her own young horses down as it would never amount to anything(was aggressive towards humans and nearly killed someone) and not saving the meat would be a waste. By the same logic I would also eat dog(or cats) if it was offered to me, if I knew that the meat being used had not been taken from a family dog. But yeah, I grew up on a farm, I'm fairly pragmatic about it.

Not sure I'd eat dog meat in China tho, as there's several reports of those dogs being stolen from families or street dogs. Would not want to eat someones pet, and not sure how 'clean' the meat of a street dog would be.

honestly probably lol. i wouldn?t go out of my way to but if there was an opportunity then sure
