Your opinion on something....

Bahaha same or people that do get on for more reasons than the AC games.

And yeah some troll threads can be fun but I guess it's a good thing to know what you shouldn't engage in :p

Haha exactly. When I first joined the forum for the game I was super apprehensive about it because I thought that I'd be the only older person among all the little kids, but there's a huge age range here. But now that I've stopped playing AC I just come on to post on random threads. :p ps hi <3

hi <3

Yeah when I first came here I p much went only on the VTP threads and stuff because I wanted some villagers so bad but now I pretty much post here and in the Basement too much haha.

And yeah, I don't play the game either nowadays so yeah mostly coming on for friends and threads ^^

Just read a bit more of the posts from this thread, my original post didn't really cover appropriate or inappropriate content, was focusing more of the bahvuour I have experienced from mostly the younger users.
I haven't personally seen anything on this site that wouldn't be okay for a kid of 10 or 11 to see. Other sites I know are very different, but that is a parenting issue and whether they choose to monitor what their child views on the internet. I don't see any issue with young users being on here as long as they are respectful and they're mature enough to understand rules of people's towns, etc.
Parents can't always control every aspect of what their child does, particularly as they get older. I work with children who have very varied behaviour problems and unfortunately it's not just a case as if you can't control them, don't have them.
Admittedly I know there are some parents who just don't monitor what their kids do because they can't be bothered. But that isn't always the case.
Anyway, the parenting is a separate issue.
I was very into going on to forums when I was 11/12. The internet was still a pretty new thing then so there wasn't as much aawsreness about the dangers, lessons on safety or what not. I don't recall ever seeing anything worse than a few swear words. Which to be fair I had already heard at school.

I agree with most of the comments so far that there's nothing wrong with children being on this site and it is a very child friendly site in comparison to others. They may lack the maturity for certain areas and topics of the forum but those areas are most likely not to interest them so they'd ignore them. Also with regards to the use of swear words most kids are exposed to swear words from a young age at school because you know there's always that one kid.

tl:dr I think the forum is fine, there's a lot worse places on the internet.

I haven't been a registered member for very long, but I used to read through these forums constantly and rarely saw anything inappropriate, so I'm sure it wouldn't be the end of the world if a kid saw it.

Saying that, when I was younger (like 9ish), I would always go on forums and I didn't really understand how they worked, so I would just make 10 threads nearly everyday about literally nothing and type in all caps and talk about things that weren't even related to the topic. My parents were always really protective over the Internet (eg, I wasn't allowed on YouTube, not even to listen to music, until I was 14), so I just went a bit crazy 'exploring' all the things it could do.

So yeah. If a kid is going to act maturely, or are just looking for AC tips, I think it's alright. But if they're going to act like I did? Lol, they can get off.

yeah I agree with all of these, it is safer than other places, but what about interacting with them? I would hate to invite some random 9 year old that would come to my town and ruin my flowers or something

exactly me, but for the internet there aren't that many "mature" ones

The only time it bothers me is when I see people gang up on or be mean to someone, and I know the user is really young. I see this happen sometimes and it's usually because the user posted something goofy. Most users on here are polite, but when one attacks, a bunch more join in. People say whatever they want on the internet. I wouldn't want my kids to be online until at least 13. Even 13 seems a bit young sometimes.

I put 13 because it's the official age you become a "teen". and yes I hate that too, I think it happened here once

Well you could also wish they'd think once or twice before posting something completely stupid that will attract those people whose intent is to troll or be mean. I mean obviously posting something stupid like "I'm a furry helicopter wbu?" or similar is obviously meant to be trolled upon.

And yeah I wouldn't let eg. someone 9 year old roam freely on the internet.

oh. it's called "tag teaming" apparently, which is a cover name for cyberbullying. targeting someone, sharing info on another media so their friends would gang up on them and attack them using false accusations. sometimes I wonder why perma ban isn't a thing yet

in my opinion, the youngsters here come first and the older members should know better by keeping the place appropriate for all ages. sometimes I wonder why people whould bring up some pretty mature topics on an animal crossing fan forum.

People "tag team" here quite often. You all know who you are and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for promoting Internet hostility and putting nothing of positive value into the community.

I'm grateful for there being so many older people here, because if it weren't for them this place would be such a mess. But the game is aimed at children, so it would be ridiculous to keep people of a certain age out. I think maybe there should be an option to restrict the visibility of a thread to members of a certain age.

I don't really pay attention to the younger kids, but there is one on here who I see often and they are aggressive and manipulative to get cycled villagers and I just want to tell them to knock it off and relax. o_0

Sometimes it can be helpful when they gang up though. If one user says that a certain user is a scammer and other witnesses are there to confirm that said user is a scammer, then it helps other people better protect themselves. Wi-fi ratings on TBT don't cover all transactions that take place on the forums.

if you have a problem with someone you can talk to them in private so you both can provide your points of view without ruining threads and creating unnecessary drama. if said person is a scammer and you've got enough proof in your hands, you can report them to the mods and said person should get banned if they were indeed dangerous to the site, people won't need to protect themselves with their absence. the mods know what they're doing, it's their job to protect the site.

Yes I agree, but TBT mods can't really moderate what happens on other sites such as trading tbt for flight rising treasure, pokeheroes items, and etc.

Considering I'm old enough to be a GRANDPARENT of those that age, I think you can't regulate the internet. This is tame compared to other stuff they see online, so I don't worry about it.

These children were literally born after I began joining forums. These children should not be old enough to use forums yet, because then that makes me feel old. lol >.<

Like seriously, to be a kid that age and have the mindset that forums like this are something that have existed all of your life and there are members that were on there before you were even born. I can't even imagine it. Forums were such a 'new' thing to me. lol

I'm a 12 year old and I feel so young compared to all these people lol. I try not to act stupid around them, though sometimes I still come off as the foolish 12 year old I am lol.
