Are you done your critterpedia?

I finished the sea creatures part, but that's it. I only have one more fish to finish the fish section, but for the bug section I have some work to do. This month I have to worry about getting the goliath beetle and I have NEVER seen it on any of my palm trees so far!! Highkey annoying since I just wanna get it already, I know it's rare but still

Finished it a month or so ago, I had the hardest time with a cicada that just DID NOT want to show up, both on my island & mystery islands but finally caught him! :/

I should've been done like, a while ago. I catch every new thing for each new month, so logically I would've been done with bugs and fish by March of this year, but they added diving so that added some more things. Anyway, last year I was never lucky with the summer beetles, there are still 3 that I need to fully complete my critterpedia. Once July gets here, hopefully I'll have some time at night to make that happen.

I’m not finished yet! I have all the fish except for the “blow fish” I think that I can fish only in winter months I believe, so yeah, it will be a long time before finishing it. I miss some bugs, mostly bugs that are going to be available next month or in august but the last one I think it’s the beetle that rolls snowball so that’s for winter as well. I miss a lot of sea creatures as well because diving doesn’t really appeal me much ☺️

I am still obsessively working on completing my CritterPedia. (My museum is otherwise complete with fossils and artwork) I need to catch two undersea critters, the sea pig and a spiny lobster which are which are maddeningly elusive!!
I put together some photo stories:

I will be shocked if I ever finish that thing. I thought I cared about it and it turns out I do not lol. I think the only reason I completed the fossils was that I was looking for specific ones. I am more interested in completing the art section of the museum.

I'll finish it when I finish it. Though I'll never truly fill in "one" critterpedia as I play between 5 different characters and focus on filling up the museum more so than each of their critterpedias. I've been playing since launch and during the first year of the game I just happened to catch what I caught. I didn't worry about getting everything I could from each month unlike many other launch players. Only since the beginning of this year I've been trying to focus on the ones I'm missing that are going away by the end of the month, so I'm starting to get close to finishing it.

I'm down to 1 fish (Giant Trevally, a pier Fish), 4 sea creatures, and 11 bugs (most of which are the summer beetles). As a bonus my fossils are long complete and I'm missing 9 more art pieces.

I just need the stinkin walking stick! By the time it was the season to catch them my island was already heavily developed with furniture blocking trees. Even with inaccessible trees, I never saw it on my own island or a mystery island. Whenever I do get round to playing I'm going to need to visit some friends to get it. I think I finished my deep sea catalogue but if not, it's also probably one thing I missed when I went on hiatus.

I stopped caring for the time. I lost the motivation to fish and catch bugs; it is hard enough to get myself to play as of lately. I think I have a good amount of them caught but still need some because I keep taking breaks.

The hardest one was the walking stick, giraffe stag (not sure if I caught it; not in game right now to check), and hercules beetle (not sure if I caught it). I saw only one last year and I wanted to catch more for bug models but no luck and plus I’m asleep (haven’t felt like tting).

I don’t recall what the hardest fish was. I know when I wanted more of some fish I caught gor models, the betta was a pain.

I play with two other characters but my rule is that me (LuluBelle) makes all the Museum contributions 😬
If one of the others caught something I didn’t then they place it so I can pick it up for donation ... unfortunately, just having it in my inventory doesn’t fool my Critterpedia - I still have to catch one personally LOL
Having two additional characters really helps with faster accumulation of art and other gift items.

Haha that's an interesting rule. None of my characters are "me" so I just let whoever caught it make the donation. Even my Resident Rep doesn't get favoured over my other characters now that all my buildings/bridges etc. are built. Though most of my friends send gifts to me through her as she's on my main account as I don't make my friends add all 5 of my accounts. I definitely agree that having multiple characters helps with collecting art and other things.

I have completed my fish.

I will have a busy July and August though, as the only sea creature I have to get is horseshoe crab (available July - September), and a lot of beetles I missed out on last year. My evenings will become very busy!

Best of luck for 1 super amazing evening!

All 5 player for 2 island completed their collections. December bug/fish for 4 players. March diving for all players and last fish for last player. Last player finished her bug collection in June. Fishing, bug and diving in this game are easy to complete.

For player 3 on my 2nd island I used no bait and she had very good luck with fish. Most pier fish were caught on a Mystery Island.

I'm very much the "it'll happen when it happens" type. I'm mainly focused on getting villagers I like and making my town look amazing, and since my town is ever changing, I haven't put a ton of effort into critters. I've completed the buy part because... well, it's a lot easier- see a bug, grab a bug. Fishing takes more patience and is more random (kind of like real life fishing, lol) and I just don't have much patience for it (...kind of like real life fishing). So I'm missing a fair amount of fish.

I'm also missing one deep sea critter (spiny lobster, I think?). I'm pretty sure they're available in the Southern hemisphere RN, maybe I should try and find a southern island to dive on, lol

And, not that you asked, but I'm super far from finishing my art collection.

But, like I said, I'm not really in a rush. I figure, if I ever feel bored with decorating it'll give me something else to do!

I don’t know if this will be a helpful tip for you or anybody else, but I find that these deep sea creatures who only appear after 11 PM are so difficult to see, so I turned my brightness way up on my switch and I can see much better ... The rising bubbles are really quite beautiful, I am really in love with the game graphics 😍 💦

Almost! Just need one more critter for the deep-sea creatures (the spiny lobster) a few summer coconut bugs such as the cyclommatus, the spider, the mahi-mahi and several other fish, and that's pretty much it. Catching bugs and fish will always be one of my favorite things about AC so it'll be satisfying yet bittersweet to finally complete the Critterpedia. It's been a year and a half progress 🥰

I have completed the critterpedia, but I also want to complete the furniture catalog so I have caught 4 of almost each bug/fish in order to get all the models. I'm currently missing 2 Giant Trevally and 2 Barreleye, so I'm hoping I can get those four fish on the following months.

Well, actually I want to catch 3 more of those, since I also have 1 of each bug/fish/sea creature in storage in case I ever want to read Blather's explanation (or freak-out) again ingame (and not just read on the wiki haha)

As others have said, Mystery Islands are a fantastic way to catch lots of bug/fish. I caught all the extra 3 beetles/bugs on one of those as it was easier than running around the whole island. I try to avoid using bait too much because I see it more as a help to catch multiples (for the models) rather than the only way to achieve the complete museum- if I used it as the only way of fishing (or mostly the only), I would probably be tired/frustrated of the clams/crafting tools and bait part.

Good luck to everyone trying to complete the critterpedia and the museum. The museum is gorgeous all the time, but having all the creatures there and watching the building upgrade by collecting certain creatures is so satisfying.

I have finished Sea Creatures, Fishes, and Bugs for the first time in the entirety of AC's history (I have been playing since Animal Crossing on the GameCube). I am just happy that I have finally completed it for once. The museum is almost done, I just need 2 more paintings, and that will be done for the first time ever as well.
