I've never reset before in my life, but this time I gave myself a max of 5 resets because I know I'm going to be playing this game for years. However when I first started the game I got oranges + an orange airport, which was my ultimate combo so I didn't have to!
I maybe spent an hour or two resetting?
I wasn't trying to be too specific or anything. I didn't really care about starting villagers or native fruit or anything. I pretty much just wanted my west-south river exits and a green airport, but you wouldn't believe how long it took me to find a green airport.
Turns out, the map I ended up settling on was pretty darn good anyway! I got Goose as one of my starters, who I wasn't actively considering as one of my final villagers but now I've seen him, I think he can stay. I also got apples as my native fruit, which is second best only to pears, and the native flowers up on the cliffs is the new mums which are my faves too! The layout of the map is also really handy for making my dream island plan, given the position of the plaza, etc.
So yeah, I spent a lot of time resetting over one small detail, but in the end, I'm very happy that I did.
I reset a lot, I'd guess around 50 times because I was trying to get a very specific map. I mostly watched Youtube while resetting so it wasn't as painful as it sounds.
I was trying to get the map with the star shaped pond, peaches, and a yellow airport. I found the star pond map once, but had to keep resetting because the airport and fruit weren't right. The second time I found the star map, it had peaches and the yellow airport! A very glorious moment for me, I gotta say
I understand if others think that's wack, but I have OCD so details like that are very important to me.
I didn't reset, I got the same native fruit as I did in NL and didn't get any starting villagers that I wanted. I ended up loving Flip (which was one of my starters) that i've never had before and I ended up being quite happy with my start. I think if I decided to restart I would have never stopped lol
