Recently I’ve been getting into a habit of double checking things almost every time I do something. So just out of curiosity, do anyone else have this kind of habit?

Not with everything but for the things that matter? Yes. Any bills that I'm paying online? Double check, triple check, get my bf to check that the totals match. I'm paranoid of accidentally putting more than I have in my bank account cuz those overdraft fees SUCK. At work as a server, double check triple check, stare at the screen to make sure I punched in the order right, put in all the mods. Can't have a guest or chef upset with me if I can help it! Sending texts/emails etc that is going to have an impact on me, make a draft, erase it, rewrite it then reread it over and over again to make sure it has the right tone, it says what I need to say, etc. I have anxiety so it just kinda comes with the territory. I overthink things a lot and I'm so paranoid at times 😅

I triple check things most of the time. I have to triple check that my alarm is set correctly. I re-read any emails or posts that I make a couple of times to check for mistakes. When I lock my car doors, I hit the lock three times. I'm really bad about things like that.

I double-check a lot of things:
  • Emails before hitting the "send" button--flow, grammar, subject line, and recipients, particularly
  • Any calculations
  • Messages of a personal/emotional nature
  • Locking doors
  • Making sure my mom has turned off the stove after cooking (I double-check this when I make food, too)
  • Bills before making payments

I don't do so with everything, but like UglyMonsterFace mentioned important things? Definitely, probably even triple check.

My somewhat paranoid nature demands that I double-check things. Making sure the iron or the stove is turned off, for instance, before I leave the flat. Also numbers. If I have to key in numbers or write them down, I double-check. Last but not least, writing. Any time I write something that is meant to be read by anyone else other than myself, I will re-read it a few times, check repeatedly if I'm actually saying what I want to say, ascertain that it reads easily, before I send/post/let someone read it.

I'm very critical of my own writing, so when it comes to posting on, say, a public board such as this one, I always spend an inordinate amount of time going over what I write. I don't want to waste anyone's time so, if I think what I'm writing doesn't add a new perspective, is uninteresting or is liable to offend, I don't post it. I've probably written more posts that I've deleted before posting than posts that I've actually posted! 🤨🤪

Double, triple, quadruple checking. It becomes disastrously excessive if it’s something involving numbers, but I just can’t trust myself to get it right the first fifty million times.

generally, no. when it's done, it's done.

unless it's a big project for work or school, etc. , i'll recheck everything 3-4 times just to make sure, and when I was working they always had multiple people signing off on everything before the tiniest things are changed. don't toy with lives i'm a chemical engineer, safety is super duper important!!!! stay safe.

Not only do I double check I often even triple check or quadruple check. I guess I'm paranoid of making a mistake.

I sometimes read things incorrectly the first time and I'm prone to spelling mistakes. I can't tell you how many posts I've had to edit on here due to spelling errors and that's after checking it multiple times before actually making the post.

Edit: case in point I just had to edit this to fix a small mistake lol

I double check especially if I'm traveling which is when I'm at my most neurotic. I'll open my bag and check if I still have my phone or other important items throughout the day. I'll also worry that I didn't lock my apartment door and will txt my partner requesting them to double check for me.

Mostly for the things that matter: phone, keys, wallet, mask I check before I leave the home and right before I lock my door. I also check that my door is locked before walking away.

I check that the stove and oven are off when I'm done cooking and when I'm done cleaning the kitchen.

I also double check my credit cards bills a few days they are due. Most of them are on auto pay because I use them frequently but I have some I only use when I get a reward category I want.

Yeah I double check everything because I'm extremely forgetful and I forget if I just did something so I end up doing it again lmao.

I double check most things because I have ADHD. I get distracted easily and forget, so I always check my phone and my wallet whenever I leave somewhere to make sure I have them. It’s saved me a few times. If I left the house and don’t remember to check to make sure everything is in order than I’ll have anxiety the entire time gone.

I do this constantly, and thank goodness I do because sometimes I get things wrong or put things in stupid places. All the perks I suppose of being human! I'm not complaining. I'd rather be a silly human than a molusk.

You could say that, yes, especially when I'm in a hurry before leaving somewhere and I take a fair amount of stuff along.

Ugh, yes. With me I'm fairly certain it's an anxiety thing, but I always re-read any message or post I'm about to send several times over. If I make any changes, I re-read a few more times. I double check if I've closed doors properly, I double-check to make sure the cats are still where I think they are... I feel like it's a bit much, but I don't feel better unless I do it. If I'm typing something in on a calculator, I'll even calculate it more than one way, just to make sure I'm getting the same number and I didn't mess anything up the first time.
