I’m curious how many of you are planning on buying the Switch 2 the first week of launch? I’ve been watching all of the announcements and watching you tubers, etc. I’m actually thinking I will wait. Firstly because I am always a bit cautious and wait to see if there are any kinks that need to be ironed out. But also, I was thinking I love my Switch but I only use it for 1st party/NIntendo games. I don’t play any heavy resource needed games so the power issue isn’t as important to me. I use my pc and steam deck for the heavy graphics and high processing needed games. What are your thoughts? Are you buying it as soon as you can? Or are you going to wait and if so, why?

As long as a game that peeks my interest comes out on launch day, I'll grab that and the Switch 2 at the same time. Since Mario Kart is likely, the answer is yes!
Oh that’s right! How did I totally forget that a new Mario Kart is being dangled as a temptation! Shoot, I might have to rethink my strategy, lol.

maybe? my switch lite is pretty borked, both joysticks are whacky, the left especially. it's largely why i haven't played anything on it in a while. (i know i can send it in for repairs, but i don't trust them to not wipe my data lmao.) so, i do need a replacement regardless, and why not the switch two since it's backwards compatible? i really want the tomodachi life sequel, so that's one incentive, though it isn't out until next year. pokemon legends z-a is another, albeit less so since i'm not as keen on that game based on what we've seen so far. MK9 is a launch title, which i'm also definitely interested in. so, there is a library (including my pre-existing games) for me if i buy the switch two, but i didn't even buy my switch lite until ACNH was announced lmao. it really depends on the definite price and what happens during the direct next week. seeing some more games would definitely be helpful.

chances are, it'll be within the first few months at least.

lol, if anyone can justify and upgrade I’d say that is you! I am a bit worried about price. All of the You Tube influencers/streamers I watch on this subject have kinda been all over the board on cost. I bought my Steam Deck within this past year and I fear the Switch 2 is going to cost just under $500 which will honestly make it unreachable for me. I just can’t justify it. Unless…..they are bringing out some amazing games that can only be played on the 2. I guess we will know pricing soon enough! Here is keeping our fingers crossed that it’s not as high as everyone it predicting. But it is also using the Nvidia card which definitely will make it more expensive.
Oh! And I hear ya on worrying your data would be wiped. I honestly can never bring myself to send in anything that has data on it…phone, pc, etc.!

Probably not. I see myself waiting until there is either a really cool Pokémon exclusive version or an AC mainline title is announced.
Yes! Good point! I bought the ACNH edition of the Switch back when it came out. I also bought the Zelda version because at the time I thought I needed two switches so I could start another ACNH game. I didn’t end up doing that so It has never been opened. I didn’t buy it as a “collectors” item at all, lol. Who knows if it will ever retain its original value. I literally gave away about 5 years ago the two game boys-1 color, and a bunch of cartridges that went with them, and now I wish I hadn’t!

Oh yeah, absolutely, unless somehow Nintendo doesn't plan on releasing games for their system. :p Seems we'll at least be getting Mario Kart at launch probably, so that's good enough.

I know I'll be buying it within the first year or so regardless, so I might as well just enjoy it from day 1. There is no world where this system is a flop that has a price cut or significant bundle deal so soon. I think the only potential loss is a cool game-themed system or controller colour, but I don't really care that much to wait on a gamble when there's no guarantee I'll like the colours they choose.

Depends on what games are available at launch, but honestly, doubtful. More likely to wait until later in the year for like my birthday or something. I feel like I'd rather play Pokémon Legends Z-A on a Switch 2 than on the Switch, so while I'm not likely to purchase the Switch 2 in the first week or first month, I probably will within the first year at least.

I'm not decided yet, I may get it or maybe I'll wait a bit since I rarely ever get consoles on launch and its not like I'm in a hurry or anything.
I could feel more inclined to buy it sooner if anything exclusive picks my interest too..

I will pre-order it as soon as it becomes available (and pick it up the day it's released)! I would love a special edition Switch 2, like the AC special edition Switch, but I'd rather get a regular Switch 2 sooner than a special edition later.

Honestly, probably not, seeing as I don't really use my Switch for very much these days. Maybe in the future if something is announced that I'm really interested in, I'll pick one up, but I've been a bit disillusioned with modern gaming, so even in such a case, I'd rather wait until the hypothetical game(s) in question actually release so that I can have a better idea if I'll actually like them instead of relying on hype.

Definitely not. I’m hoping there’s a lite version so I don’t have to spend a fortune on it, but I doubt I’ll get one until the next animal crossing game. I only got my switch lite in 2020 and it feels too soon to replace it yet (despite the breaking fan). I dont know. It might be a few years yet. I’ll get one eventually
