Magazine Mash-Up

Hi, just a question about this! If we use an existing magazine as a reference, can we link an image of it as well or at least say its name when submitting our entry? (asking cause i'm thinking of using magazines i read as a kid but i'm french so i assume no one would know them)
Oh and while I'm at it, actually, do newspapers count as magazines?
You could include this when sharing your entry in this thread if you wanted to, but it wouldn't be considered part of your submission. By that I mean it won't be seen by the other staff during our internal voting phase, nor would it be visible on the public poll if it were nominated to the community voting phase.

A newspaper would not count for this contest.

are drop shadows for text allowed?
Yes, this is fine! :)

Well guess I'm the first to post here :D Really hope my entry is ok :giggle:

Traditional drawings are fine, as long as all elements are drawn by you. :)

Hi, I was wondering if weapons would break the pg13 rule? We were planning on having a gun and sword on our magazine page.
More specifically, something like a musket and a saber. If not, would a toy version be ok? Thanks!

Edit: Our team's had a change of plans, so we don't plan on using any weapons in our magazine anymore.

So if everything is supposed to be drawn or created by you, if you do digital does that mean you can’t use like text boxes?

Or if I draw pictures out/ can I not upload them then add text boxes?

Using basic shape tools/text is fine.

Question!!! So this may sound strange but can we do both traditional and digital in one piece? My cover is all traditional but am thinking of typing out my 2nd page and printing it out for my 2nd page and then just glueing it on.

Style needs to be consistent across both pages. So if one is completely digital the other cannot be completely traditional.

The 2nd page wouldn’t be all digital just the text which I had planned to print out. The rest would be traditional. Understand what I’m getting at?

In theory, it sounds fine. But if you want to be sure I'd suggest putting together a rough visual example of what you mean and PM'ing it to me for a definite answer.

Ok! Will do! My Cover page has been almost done for a week now, but other events took the front burner. I plan to try and finish up on the cover tonight and I’ll send u the rough copies via pm.

Just a super paranoid question: If there's a problem with our submission/it can't be accepted, will one of the staff members let us know? I'm pretty sure I did everything properly, but my entry hasn't been accepted yet so I'm starting to worry. XD

If your thread hasn't had a prefix attached to it (they are Accepted and Update Needed) then it simply means I haven't looked at it yet. If it needs edited before I can accept it then you will be told. :)
