    Round 1: Twiggy Answer
  • Round 1 has now concluded!

    Round 1 Answer

    Twiggy was located at K8!

    trees answer.jpg

Clues: The primary way to confirm Twiggy's location was by her orange feet. Another clue was the existence of the umbrellas near some villagers. The strawberry umbrella can be seen at the bottom of her tree.

Diversions: Many birds with yellow feet were present in this forest scene. One diversion that a few people fell for was the presence of orange feet belonging to Jacques, but he has green bands on his ankles. Eggbert is a yellow chicken with orange feet. His wings may have thrown you off, but Twiggy's wings have a green tip! And then there was Eloise's yellow ear... how did an elephant climb a tree anyway?

Let us know what threw you off (or almost did) this round!

Extra info: Puzzle events are normal for TBT events, but it's been a while since I ran one myself, so I wasn't entirely sure how difficult it should be. Before the round went live, I made it easier by making her feet stick out more and exposing Eggbert's red sleeve. Perhaps this was a mistake because so many of you got the right answer! Good job! The tickets will be distributed later tonight. Round 2, will be posted tomorrow.

    Round 2: Graham Answer
  • Round 2 has now concluded!

    Round 2 Answer

    Graham was located at I6!

    houses2 answer.jpg

Clues: As I'm sure many of you found out the hard way, this could not be solved by simply finding Graham's house. After all, the introduction of this event suggested thinking outside the box! Because his house was obstructed, it would instead need to be solved by discovering the pattern: the houses appeared on the island in alphabetical order. With this pattern in mind, you could follow the houses until reaching Graham's at I6.

Red herrings: Other similar-looking houses that were not actually Graham's. A common guess was the foggy yellow roof seen at D10, but that one is Caroline's house.

Let us know how long you spent looking at every house and which ones tricked you!

Extra info: The original version of this round was for Curt's house. What do you think, would that have been any easier? Answer: it's at F6. While this round may have tricked many of you, don't forget that you'll still earn tickets for being closer than others. Unfortunately, participants who guessed farthest from the correct location will not get any tickets this round, but hopefully you'll have better luck in round 3, which will be posted tomorrow!

    Round 3: Dobie Answer
  • Round 3 has now concluded!

    Round 3 Answer

    Dobie was located at R9!

    gym-answer.jpg

Clues: As you can see from the now structureless and lopsided gym building, Dobie was standing on a scale behind one of the columns. Once again, this round required more consideration than basic search-and-find. Instead, a clue was located in the list of numbers displayed on the gym's TV screens. Each treadmill and scale contained a number connecting it to one of the measurements on the screens. The treadmill screens displayed speed, while the scale screens displayed weight. We can see from the kettlebells in cell C16 that the gym is using pounds to measure weight, which helps clarify that the numbers should not be interpreted as kilograms. These numbers are the speeds and weights of the species using the equipment. Out of the obscured scales and treadmills, a wolf such as Dobie would only logically fit on scale #10 at 90 pounds.

Red herrings: A few of the wolves hiding behind other things. Lobo at U6 and Kyle at I15 were the most common incorrect answers. A hidden treadmill would have also been a possibility, but the speeds for the other villagers are all around their species' max speed. #3 is too slow, while #10 is too fast.

Let us know how long it took you to work out the speeds and weights of these villagers, or what tricked you instead!

Extra info: This one took me a lot longer to put together than I anticipated and I'm not sure if I really finished it either! It ended up being posted a little late and with fewer red herrings than I wanted, so perhaps that helped save a few of you from being tricked! Also, I made at least one mistake: Puddles' weight is off by a decimal place. The final round will be posted tomorrow. This next one may look a bit different than the others... I'm not sure if that's good or bad, so we'll have to see!

    Round 4: Marina Answer
  • Round 4 has now concluded!

    Round 4 Answer

    Marina was located at M8!

    marina.png

    ocean2 answer.jpg

Clues: In our final round, we see a large gradient of pink colors. Above the ocean, Graham is standing in a boat and his head may seem a bit odd-looking, but it's actually his icon from New Horizons. He's also holding a yellow paint bucket, another clue to show that color is the key to solving this. To find Marina in the ocean, we must find the color of her New Horizons icon in the water. The exact color is located at M8!

My first version of this round was a bit harder, so send your thanks to @Mick for his suggestions that contributed to making it solvable!

If you didn't guess the exact color at M8, you'll still be rewarded with tickets for being close to it. This scoring system perhaps worked better with this round than the previous three. With the event now concluded, let us know what you think of it and its scoring system! If something similar is brought back in the future, would you prefer we use a simple right or wrong instead? Let us know your thoughts!
