Pokémon Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield General Discussion

Since I did that in Moon and Ultra Sun (shiny Rowlet on my first SR both times), I will try to soft-reset for shiny Grookey c:

Sorry to ruin your fun here, but apparently they locked this time the soft-resetting method to get a shiny Starter. This also goes for the legendaries. This means, if you want a shiny Starter you have to breed one. :/

Here are the news, a dataminer found out about it: https://nintendosoup.com/pokemon-sw...iny-locked-starter-hidden-abilities-revealed/

Don't understand the logic here why they locked it but then again I don't understand many decisions GF made...

Same, I’m keeping my Scorbunny because its nature doesn’t suck (Hasty) and I like what I nicknamed it (Inferno, the name of the OP of the anime Fire Force).

Can someone PLEASE tell me why the right-hand PokeMart clerk in Motostoke City won't sell me Nest Balls? PM me or like my post to get my attention. I'll check back a little later.

Glad I got the game despite my reservations. I like it so far. Definitely problems, but I like it.

I think my main issue is animations. It's just a bit sucky that most moves are just shaking the model around a bit. Classic lazy and inept Game Freak.

As for """only""" 400 Pokemon, I feel I've seen far more unique Pokemon at this point (stood outside the first gym) than I ever did in the other games. Certain I never had the opportunity to catch this many before. If this is what cuts do, I want cuts in future games too.

I've heard the game is short too, but I'm at the first gym and have about 5 hours play so far. I know what I'm doing with Pokemon so it's not like I've been stuck in a field for 3 hours. I'm not worried about length.

Overall, it could be better given the massive upgrade in hardware from the last game, but its Pokemon, they'll always be fun at the very worst. The hate train has been blown way out of proportion.

As for previous gen hate being discussed, I liked X/Y but hated Sun/Moon. Didnt even realise Sun/Moon hate was popular until recently. Take that as you will.

I caught a shiny zigzagoon, I love this game
ayyy congrats! Hope I catch my first shiny! :)

btw unburden won't work in this game. like my Nickit eats his Oran Berry but doesn't activate and gain speed. This an error or...?

Kinda peeved injection is still a thing with these new games. Someone elsewhere was bragging about injecting Incineroar and such.

I have 9 hours in so far, I can definitely feel the jaggy frame rates, and pokemon renders disappearing and reappearing like bubbles depending on your distance kinda bothers me. However I?m loving it a lot more than sun/moon, especially the dynamax raid battles and wild area.

I must say I genuinely thought Lotad?s evolution line was axed, so to discover that he was exclusive to Shield after already ordering Shield and not Sword was a pleasant surprise, since it?s my favourite evolution line in the game!

Just beat the first gym battle, and it was a lot of fun. My team so far:

Inferno the male Raboot, Lv. 21
Valkyrie the female Corvisquire, Lv. 21
Ivory the male Eldegoss, Lv. 20

So I’m already halfway to having my ideal team. I have to say, going into this with lowered expectations, I was thoroughly surprised with how good these games are. The battles are fun, Dynamax is actually cool, what I’ve seen of the story so far is interesting, trainer customization is on par with Pokemon X/Y, and the areas to explore are fun as well. Not sure if I can say these are better than Sun/Moon until I’ve played the rest of the game, but if nothing else they feel like really solid games on their own. :)

Finally got my copy (apparently pre-orders being not punctual is common on Amazon, so just fyi). :D

I wanted to go into the game without being too critical, but the very first thing you see is just terrible. Why do we pick our appearance and name in this white void? They could have literally just copied Let's Go pre-intro... The "YouTube" intro is cool though.

The game is very pretty, I did look forward to the region. The cutscenes look amazing, but I think the graphics suffer a bit when you're just walking through the game in handheld mode. I really like that the champ gives you the starter pok?mon, it gives the story something new and I appreciate that. I really like the design of the menu and interface as well.

Anyway, those are my first impressions. I'm happy to be playing a new Pok?mon title this weekend and I hope I can enjoy it as much as I enjoyed X/Y.

I beaten the second gym trainer with just one Pok?mon. Ever since I fell in love with Oddish, Vileplume has been a killer Pok?mon in my party. Also, I maxed out Vileplume?s Dynamax level.

Although I’m happy about the character customization, I do not like the skirts they have available early in the game (for the female player). They’re literally shorter than the lasses’ skirts (the lasses in this game). That’s one thing Pok?mon Sun and Moon is better at.

Remember to get your gold coins if you have a my Nintendo account. I was able to use some for smash dlc instead of actual money.
