TBT's Easter 2025 Egg Collectible Creation Contest

Yes. I want to heart them all. I'm sure it would take a lot of time to clean them up though. I'd be happy to see them come throughout the year or even between this year's egg hunt and next year's if staff is up to it.

Blooper Egg! To go with the many video-game themed eggs we already have, particularly the Boo Halloweaster Egg.

Pixel art is extremely difficult. I tried w/ the shading--don't even want to admit how long I spent on this.

I noticed that users seem to be allowed to submit designs that slightly protrude from the egg shape, but if I need to, I can try to recreate the egg without the tentacles and head . . . thing. I am begging you on my knees to accept this one though . . . the computer ate all my backup files 😭

I high key love collectible designing events, and while I'm no artist nor pixel artist (first time for everything!) I had a ton of fun playing around! Lol the bud idea came from "what could I realistically make without being good at art". Had some other ideas first but I could NOT realize them well enough eheh

Is there a thread, or could we have a thread that acts as a tutorial on how to even create one of these collectibles? One where there are some basic instruction and allowance for people to ask questions and those more experienced could answer and guide?

I honestly haven’t a clue on how to even begin, but I would love to try making an Easter egg! I work on an iPad and I don’t know where to start, what app(s) I might need or use, etc.

If something like this exists could someone please direct me to it? I try to search for threads on this forum but often come up empty handed even though later I discover ones exist.
I made a thing quickly!
First of all, I'm sorry if I made this too confusing, too detailed, or too simple!! I definitely might have missed things as well, this was just a quick write up- I'm sure other people have other tips.
Also, everything is based off of FireAlpaca, as that is the only program I'm used to sorry no ipad 😔!! I know there are a lot of tutorials online for other programs though.

Secondly, I am by no means a professional artist, and definitely not a professional collectible maker- this is not necessarily the most efficient way, just the way I've taught myself, and make collectibles for these events.

@/BungoTheElf made a good list of different art programs here for anyone interested!

For more complicated drawings, this shading process will be more complicated, but it's the same basic concepts at its core!

For this one I started on a larger canvas and shrunk it down, but I did overcomplicate it, and had to redo details to make them clearer.
My gif of the original drawing isn't working sorry- but this is the final large image:

^ this was my process of cleaning it up once I shrunk it down.

This isn't going to be my submission, partly I'm not particularly happy with how it turned out, and also as I am sad again that the eggs must be on the yellow backgrounds: the jelly needs to be in the water : (

Drawing on such a small canvas is not easy- don't be too hard on yourself!

On a different note, I've made two eggs I'm happy with- I'm struggling to choose between them 😭

Just when you thought eggs were safe 🙈😂💜 Here comes zipper 😱

I started off with a zipper carrot to be silly but it couldn’t be resized sadly.

Hope the process pics are ok. I drew zipper then it was uploaded resized.

Here comes the Starry Night egg 🎇

Process:

1. Drew on a larger square canvas

IMG_8081.png

2. Then kept going back and forth shrinking it, adjusting details, rinse and repeat 20 times

3. Last step was to check and make sure my egg designs would fit in with other eggs should it be chosen, and tweaking saturation accordingly

Runner Up option: Angel egg

First egg idea I had: Sakura stained glass egg (all details were lost in shrinkage, rip)

And finally, give it a face to make it look friendly! :)

This is amazingly kind of you! I know this must have taken some time to put together and I am extremely grateful. I will carefully go through it and see if I can gain some understanding. I tried working with Sketchbook for mobile since it is free because I am Not an artist and didn’t want to invest too much money, But after working with it the past couple of days and getting nowhere, I learned there are a few features the mobile app doesn’t have that the pc app does (pc app costs money) So after increasing frustration I just said to heck with it and bought/downloaded the Procreate app thinking that would help me. But then I discovered I hate the interface. 🤣 Anyway all of this to say I seriously am laughing at how naive I’ve been about “oh I’ll just buy an app, watch a few YouTube videos and make an egg. OMG I am soooo silly! From the looks of things it would take me months to years to figure out how to use either app I downloaded with any proficiency and understanding. I wonder how many artists on the forum here read my post saying “I’ll watch some videos and make an egg” just burst out laughing or did a full on ROFLMAO. Because, yeah it’s not that simple. And I also realized that creating a tiny collectible egg is not a beginner project. Lol!
