The Anime Thread

Just watched the first episode for Bungou Stray Dogs, gotta say I already like what I'm seeing so far. Definitely checks off the boxes for the kind of anime I like, I'm a sucker for a show with a MC that has a sad backstory what can I say haha.

The powers and abilities are intriguing too, definitely bout to give this a good binge.

I've been so out of touch and just realized the new season of Bungo Stray Dogs was airing which is amazing news. One of my favorites!

I was computer-less for approximately two weeks and did a dive into Cyberpunk Edgerunners after hearing so much about it last year. I haven't watched anything recently that has captivated my attention quite like it - well worth the watch and potential rewatch.

I've really been enjoying the new season of Bungo Stray Dogs, especially because the first three episodes have focused on my favorite character, Ranpo, and how the Detective Agency was formed. I'm glad to see so many others watching it as well.

What will the "heroes" do in the aftermath of the big battle? The fight to protect what was crumbling down continues... now.

More backstory on Hawks and his childhood was given. About how his father wanted to conceal him from the world and his father and mother were poor. About how he wanted to become a hero like Endeavor, who shone brightly. Hawks and Best Jeanist worked together to bring in as many villains as they could.

However, it was too late in the public's eye, as trust of heroes continued to falter, and heroes started resigning one after another. Endeavor's family showed up to talk with him, including the person he had hurt long ago.

The meaning of the word "heroes" is continuing to be questioned.

Next time on My Hero Academia season six, episode seventeen. "The Wrong Way to Put Out A Fire." You won't want to miss it! (y)

I started Blue Exorcist with my sister this weekend! It's super good! I'm halfway through the first season so far. I'm loving the characters and their development as well as the art style. Plus the universe they're in and the whole demon plot is up my ally. Excited to watch more! If anyone knows any shows similar in theme and character development like this one, please send them my way!

Yeah Blue Excorcist is a really good anime glad to see you're liking it! I remember seeing it on Toonami like 8 years ago and really enjoying it, need to give it another watch sometime.

Finished season one of Bungo Stray Dogs, I can see why it gets so much love the show just keeps getting better every episode. Wasn't sure how I felt about Dazai at first and his whole Double Suicide obsession, but damn is he not a super interesting character so far. Kunikida is probably my favorite character though, I just like his attitude and he's pretty funny.

Yeah! I've heard the ending of the first season doesn't follow the manga and is kinda meh but that's okay. I'm definitely gonna read it when I'm done watching s2.

Also yeah, Dazai's jokes can be seen as distasteful but:

There's a reason for it besides comedy which I appreciate.

I'm glad you're liking it! Kunikida is hilarious. Poor guy.

Are you streaming that? The physical version is super expensive.

Yes. I'd love to have physical copies of my fav shows but that's too expensive.
Not to mention some aren't even being released physically these days. I'd love to have Banana Fish on DVD or blu-ray, but since Amazon distributes it in the West they've decided not to release it physically at all. Also it'd probably be like 60 USD for 12 episodes or something crazy like that.

EDIT: a word

I know this probably doesn't count, but since it's been a while since this series has gotten an animated ANYTHING, I figured I'd count it as anime (that, and I'm going through a Puyo Puyo obsession phase). So, here's the opening cinematic for the Japan-exclusive (sadly) Super Puyo Puyo Quest!

Me considering getting a Crunchyroll subscription: this is frivolous, I can't spend money on that
Right Stuf Anime: hey we're giving you a 30 day free trial
Me, one episode in: okay this might be worth it

I haven't watched RWBY since volume 5 but I understand it's going to be a CR exclusive from now on, so I might... try to get back into it...

I saw the trailer for RWBY volume 9 last night. I'm not sure how I feel about the direction with the whimsical Alice in Wonderland vibes. I usually like that kind of thing, but it doesn't really feel like the right setting for RWBY to me. I still plan on watching it, though. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up loving it.

Oh, I almost forgot! in case you wanted the full song for the opening for Super Puyo Puyo Quest (shown in my previous post in this thread), here it is, with translated lyrics as well!

Endeavor's family shows up and tries to comfort him. We learn more about the backstory of the Todoroki family and how Toya grew up and turned into a villain, Dabi. Hawks and Best Jeanist show up to further support Endeavor.

Meanwhile, the Class 1-A students are getting better, but Midoriya is still asleep. Bakugo tries to confront him, but is taken away. Hawks then goes to try and meet with him, wanting to confirm what One For All really is. However, All Might said not to interfere with his recovery process. In the room where Midoriya and All Might are, Midoriya is asleep and is talking to the previous vestiges inside the world of One For All. Just how will Midoriya's origin be tested?

Next time on My Hero Academia season six, episode eighteen. "Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki." You won't want to miss it! (y)
