Villager Trading Plaza Feedback

Yep.

[Buying] Marshal, [Buying] Merengue, [Buying] Stitches, [Buying] ALL MY DREAMIES x10000

Then you go inside..

Person 1 is buying Marshal for 4 million, while another is buying him for 10 million. Same goes for the rest. Competition everywhere.

No thanks!

Yeah... I can see that, unfortunately (though I might sound a little hypocritical, because a good portion of my cash was made off of villagers). I think that it would also lead to even more bad feelings.

Right. Then it will be like:

[Buying] Marshal for 10 million!

Person 1: Please, last dreamie!!
Person 2: Okay, let me get him in boxes!
Person 1: THANK YOU SO MUCHSFNSNAFKNJAF
Person 3: I'll buy him for 20 million!
Person 2: Oh, okay, you win!

We don't need that. If it's gonna be like that, let's just stick to auctions.

Oh I totally agree. I joined this forum because I wanted a Pekoe really badly and so the first thing I did was make a thread titled [Trading] Ankha for Pekoe. I also added considering trading Ankha for other dreamies even though I didn't take any of the offers. And in the end, all my dreamies were obtained through cycling threads (bless the people who run them) and making offers to trading threads.

Also, it would be courteous if you're selling/auctioning off some villager, that villager must already have a concrete move out date. I'd like that to be a rule but on the other hand feel it might be too harsh since people offer to trade villagers who aren't moving yet.

Totally should be a disclaimer saying that if you're looking to trade a villager with another specific villager, chances of it happening are slim. XD

Just an observation: it seems redundant to have both an Auction and Selling tag if people just use the Selling tag and then proceed auction-style (highest bid wins), which I see pretty often. Some kind of enforcement of using appropriate tags would be nice, I think.

Yeah. You thought the giveaway thread was clogged? Imagine the sub-forum with Buying tags. Makes me shiver.

I'm glad someone understands why it never existed in the first place for this board. :)

Anyway, in today's announcements we will be adding one popular, but simple request from this thread. Hopefully more changes in the future.

Whenever I try to search "Bam" or "Bob" using the search thread forum feature, I can't. It's too short. Is there anyway to change it?

In the LF thread.

For searches of 3 letters or less, put the word in quotation marks. So search for "Bob" instead of Bob.

There's a complicated reason why it works that I learned while I was at university that I can't recall right now...

It works because anything in quotation marks has to be in the search results exactly as it is in the quotation marks. For examle if you search "looking for Bob" then in the results, in the results it will say somewhere "looking for Bob", not just "looking", "for" and "Bob" in somewhere in any order.

We need a "Looking For" tag. I wanted one for my first week or two here, and I still do. Buying is a bad idea, and auctions are usually chaotic... I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants a "Looking For" tag. :/

You're not the only one who wants it, but I think a looking for tag is just as bad. :/

Unfortunately, I feel the same way as Zanessa. There's already congestion with folks using the "Trading" tag for that. Everything of that nature should go on the Looking For thread, but there's still people who don't. I don't think we need a "Looking For" tag.

I'm new to this forum and website, but the main reason I joined was because of this villager plaza. I don't know why the other forums (gamefaq, acc) don't do this? Buying/selling villagers is a hassle on other sites because you have to wade through all the other stuff. And when you have an item you are looking for, wading through all the villager trades is confusing too. This way is so much cleaner and nicer.

It's perfect the way it is. Well, I guess one minor thing would be to get rid of the "selling" tag. Selling and auctioning is sort of the same thing, so that feels a bit redundant. I personally thinking "auction" fits what happens the best but for the users whose first language is not English, "selling" might be clearer to them, I suppose.

No. Selling is when you have a set price for it or you say "I'll take an offer above (let's say) 700k"
Auction, is when different people come and bid. Usually selling is first come first serve, however auctioning could also have a deadline. I see why they'd put separate prefixes, and it makes sense.

I agree with this.

Even though some selling goes right to auctioning because that villager is popular/in high demands, the person who is selling is sometimes very clear on what they want while an auctioneer just lets it happen.

I would like to suggest a new rule.
I feel that people shouldn't make a thread for trade/adoption until that villager has a moving date.

Some members make threads for villagers but then they cannot get them to move.

I thought those were already rules?
