Villager Trading Plaza Feedback

@Lois:

Ew. I would never ask for a cycling thread. That's not even.. ew. Sorry, but that's just as bad as a looking for prefix.
Consider cycling like a business thing for this example. You make a flower shop, but seventeen others do too and it takes up page 1 of the Re-Tail board. Does that mean you all should make one thread, or make a separate section just to sell your flowers?
Also, you can just click the prefix if you're looking for villagers to sell/buy or trade, or adopt.

To find who's in the current town, all you have to do is look at page 1 in the OP, or in a person's sig. We don't make it that hard to find. All you need to pay attention to 9 times out of 10 is who's moving, which is ALWAYS placed in the title unless the thread owner is offline.

All you have to do is look at the current villagers. People make it seem like it's hard. Most of these cycling threads are first come, first serve, so all you have to watch out for is the title and who's moving out.

To be honest, I think a Cycling thread is a good idea. It would completely lessen a lot of off-topic chatter (which while it has been lowered by recent posts, sometimes several pages still happen) and it would be a lot easier for people to keep an eye on.

But also, since Cycling threads are constantly bumped up due to people posting new things and/or having multiple people, regular sales/trades/giveaways are being pushed down which also leads to more things being voided due to how many Cyclers are on the front page.

In fact, at any given time it seems mostly Cycling threads and people asking for someone to hold their villager (Which I'm wondering if maybe there should be a sticky either here or elsewhere for that) and the occasional asking what someone is worth that makes up most of the first page.

The main reason for the suggestion is with Cycling--it's like why people were asked to stop chatting casually in it--besides being off-topic, it caused their thread to overshadow others. Which is different than a bunch of people making the thread selling the same thing.

As for the Holding/Price Checks, I personally just feel those are kind of off-topic in this forum.

One cycling thread would mean a LOT of bumps for that one thread.. It would get incredibly cluttered, and seeing who was actually around would be extremely difficult.

I think the extreme abundance of cycling threads atm is a little frustrating. But, it's Christmas break and people have just gotten new copies.. The hype will die down and there will be no more than say 8 threads come mid-January, I'd say

Besides, I've been around the block a few times and I know that some of the cycling threads are very likely to fizzle out quickly

I never hold villagers in my thread and on top of that the rules from cycler to cycler are different. A single thread would be an absolute nightmare to deal with. I seriously hope this isn't something that is going to be implemented here. D:

If someone doesn't want to see cycling threads then click the tag prefix for what you are looking for and you won't see our threads anymore. I am getting worn out reading complaints about cyclers and cycling especially when the comments are generalized as we do not all operate our threads the same way.

Make a sub-forum just for cycling if you want, but please lets not change the status quo so that we are run out of TBT like we were on ACC.

The rules are different, yes, but in general a lot of that has to do with users spamming people's threads and asking to make reserves and etc. In a thread that is only Cycling and can only be posted in:
1. When someone wants to move
and 2. When someone quotes to pick that person
It'd be a lot neater. If they wanted to include rules when they put someone up, that is fine too.

Regardless, it's not whether people want to see Cycling threads or not (and even then, I believe you can only narrow down to one so there is multiple checking then)--just that I can personally see why one would work as they constantly push down other threads with their activity. The activity overload is the whole reason there is no buying prefix here.

Anyway, like I said, this is just me talking personally--not as staff. If you want to talk more about it, you can PM me or something.

Zoraluv - People can't even bother reading the official rules...

Hound00med - I don't think it'd really be that bad. I rarely see all the cycling threads bumped up at the same time due to a villager going out afterall.

This would also be a way to fix the title editing problem (over remaking threads) since I guess there's nothing they've been able to do on the Admin side :/

I agree that the VTP is very cluttered atm.. One thread would be incredibly cluttered and messy.. It'd spiral out of control very quickly..

However, I do think a sub forum's a great idea, and would be a good idea to cluster the cycling threads together and actually make the VTP a Trading Plaza again :p

@jen, that is true. However all the cyclers in one thread? Are you kidding me? If this would be put into practice I'd make seperate give away threads so I would know who I'm talking to. For example two cyclers could have lolly, and everyone would be shoutin for her and ..god it'd be a mess.
I agree that a sticky holding thread would be nice and with the other people about the idea of a sub-forum for cycling/giveaways.

For reference, I don't kid. But from experience, I know it isn't as bad as long as it's kept on topic.

A sub-forum can be good too though and also fix the issues--the only thing there is if there is willingness for more forums in the first place.

Remember the whole drama about the chatter in threads? Imagine that times 1000, unless a mod is going to stand there and babysit. I don't care to read endless pages about "oohh I want" and " ohhh I'm lurking now :3" I don't like this as much as you do hearing about it. All these people want to change these cycling rules when they don't even use this part for the forum.

I'm already babysitting this forum, thank you very much.
That's honestly a whole point of modding. After modding on various sites, it does end up becoming babysitting a lot. Even if we wrote READ FIRST in giant letters to the point where you couldn't even scroll down, a good 40% of people would not read it. That's just how it is. It's even worse on sites where it actually is just little kids who then go and cry to their parents and then you have a whole new level of baby sitting.

Those posts would be deleted, but as I said--this was just a mention of why I could understand the reasoning behind one--not saying that there should be one. Regardless, I did go and bring up the sub-forum thing and some stuff on the holding threads.

I think we're in the same book, but different pages... I don't understand why anyone has to deal with people who don't read the rules. Even if I have to deny the 40% maybe they'll learn to read the rules, if not ..their loss. I respect anyone who has the patience to deal with the people on here who constantly dont read rules and expect to get what they demand.
thats not just cycling but through out the forum, I hope I'm making a bit more sense.

I like the holding villager thread idea as well.

How would one single cycling thread work? As a sticky like the LF thread? May I ask how you would envision it to work, or how it would happen?

I know it's not a big deal but why would someone rate new cycling threads 1-star? Not a fun start for these new guys trying to help the community out. If you have any complaints against a cycling thread, then why not notify the cycler(s) instead? Constructive criticism is better than anonymous distaste in my opinion.

Just something I want to get out of my chest :I

99% sure no one actually pays attention to the star rating. You see [Cycling] and you immediately check it out.

That's why I wrote in the "I know it's not a big deal" part because I was expecting an answer like this. I'm just curious as to why some people do it.

I forgot to answer that. Sorry.
People are silly. No reserves? Not ____'s thread? -Automatically a bad thread.
The rating system lets people hide, so they use that instead of fighting.
