What do you think about duplicate species on your island?

I try my best to not have more than one of each species.

Half my island is rabbits (Gaston, Ruby, Dotty, Claude & Genji) so I obviously don't mind duplicate species. I wanted an all rabbit island but I grew attached to my other villagers.

I try to avoid it whenever possible though that's more of a guideline than an actual rule. I'll go for two or more of the same species if I really like the villagers.

My only goal is getting all villager pictures and posters currently, and since moving out villagers is so slow - I usually have six or more villagers whose pictures I've already gotten - I haven't been picky, especially when it comes to the campsite, so I've usually got a few duplicates.

I’m not really a fan of it, but I caved when I grew attached to both Ozzie and Eugene. I headcanon them as brothers, so that’s my way of justifying it.

Initially I thought it would be nice to have a one species island but while I like many villagers of different species it was only the wolves I could pick 10 villagers from and be happy with and that would've meant sacrificing my favourite villager, Fauna. So I was then going to take the complete opposite approach and have no duplicates but I picked up Diana while island hopping and fell in love with her, leaving me with 2 deers on the island. Now I don't mind whether I have duplicates or not, I just pick the villagers I like best or ones I want photos from.

While I'd love to have 10 different species, there are just too many I like of certain species (cats, squirrels, ducks) to stick to that rule.

Also, it can be kind of fun when you see two or three of the same species hanging out together.

I'm not a fan of multiple of the same species, but I want all personalities represented on my island as well.

Erik is my #1 villager and will never leave, but Deirdre is the only Uchi I really, really like as well... And the combination of her exterior and interior is easily my favorite of all villagers. It's so pretty! So I broke my rule for these two fabulous deer villagers!

I voted for ‘it doesn’t bother me at all...but I kind of do wish I could have villagers of all different species. However, I currently have an issue where when I am island hopping if I see a hamster I invite the hamster. Even Hamphrey who I held out against by thinking I did not want two crankies has now been invited to replace Ike.

so...I have 4 hamsters right now, and graham is still my favorite smug so I may be heading for a 5 hamster island, send help I love them all so much

in theory I will move at least some of my hamsters away in the future. But I have been thinking I would eventually move Flurry away for months (she has been with me since may) and i have gotten her picture 3 times and she is still around so...

I prefer not to have duplicate species, although admittedly it can be cute. I had Peanut & Filbert, and Margie & Tia, in my ACNL town.

It bothers me. I thought I would be ok with it, but then I tried it, and it was a bit much.

I had Barold, Olive, and Curt ( even the fact that Curt wasn’t a cub, he was still a bear).
I narrowed it down and Olive was the first to go.


Then it was super hard to choose between Curt and Barold , but I ended up with leaving Curt since his house fit better design wise on my island. I’m thinking by of bringing back Barold though. I miss him. I’ve been contemplating leaving Lucky and bringing Barold back.

I don't mind at all, but I would prefer each villager of the chosen species to have a different personality type (to make the dialogues different)

I try not to have more than 2 of the same species for variety. For example right now on my island I have two frogs (Huck and Diva) and although I like frogs, I want to also have other species of villagers to keep things interesting.

It doesn't bother me at all. If I like them then I'll invite them to my island no matter what their species. I try not to have too many duplicates of the same personality, though, because then their dialogue tends to repeat more.

It doesn't bother me much anymore. I use to try and not have so many duplicate species, but here we are, 4 wolves, 2 cats and 2 dogs.

I don’t mind having the same species but no more than two and it depends on the species. I had three hamsters at one point and it was too much. But I have had two rhinos before and I currently have two penguins. So I guess if it’s the more wild species as opposed to the domestic pet types. I also have Bangle and Bianca currently but since Bianca’s design is snow leopard it doesn’t feel like two tigers.

I have ozzie on my island such a loveable little character hes one off my fav villagers even if he does talk about his bug friends lol.

I have all three octopi, but besides that most of my species are different. I'm planning on getting tia and chai together, though Honestly I don't mind it.
