I don't mind surprises (especially in the context where you end up getting a gift unexpectedly). I usually prefer sending others my gift list so people have a better idea of what I'm looking for. In order to make it more into a surprise, I tend to list down 10+ items (but obviously tell folks to only get 1 item). Sometimes I'll send out a somewhat general theme (but not too specific if that makes sense) like 'mermaids' or 'yellow'. I tend to prefer getting gift cards over specific clothing because my size is never consistent; not everyone seems to get that, though. x_x
In the case of giving others gifts, I 100% prefer a list (especially if it's clothing bc I never know people's sizes). I hardly ever give clothing as a gift because of this reason and I've been into giving gift cards if I'm giving to someone far away.
nah, it kind of stresses e out. i always make lists of things i want and ask others to give me lists of things they want. ii hate when gifts are a miss and end up being unused or wasted, or when someone needs something but gets a completely useless thing instead. also, im just really nosy and impatient and i hate not knowing things LOL
Only my parents can't give me surprises because i am in a position where i can ask them to get me something specific
As for other relatives or friends u shut up and take what u get, even if they ask u what u want u should be vague and nonspecific
It used to matter but then as i grew up my tastes kinda changed. Now they just buy me one thing early and thats my gift. I don't have a need for a gift to be a surprise, but it feels nice when someone guesses my taste right.
I like giving people a list and have them surprise me
Though my mom and brother tend to just say what they are getting me or show me at the store. This I don?t quite like because then there?s no element of surprise.
I also dont mind complete surprises without me listing what I like.... most of the times I don?t really ask for anything and what I get is not something I needed, but I still like to be surprised
i think surprises tend to have their own merit and charm -i rlly like the excitement of tearing open a package a lot, and the prospective of thing like secret santas rlly make me giddy
but at the same time, if were talking abt legitimate gifts that the gifter would like me to use, i think im the type that prefers an informed gifting experience(lmao) where im able to choose a gift after talking it out/seeing how far their budget goes and stuff.
A pair of decent looking socks in a surprise package is definitely fun, but if the socks are in a color, design or balance i cant rlly pair w my outfits, my consumption/joy only rises for the short time between me receiving the gift and tearing it open. tho if the person gifting is sm1 close, i def rlly do like surprise gifts too (or just in general cause they do make me happy heh)
whereas a pair of socks that i was gifted while i was present during the purchase means id definitely be able to use it more often, but that also meand there wont be a point in time where my joy /peaks/ per se ig?(save for stuff like... gadgets that i can actually unbox n stuff)
I only care if it is my girlfriend who's gonna give me a surprise. Otherwise, they shouldn't bother lol. I mean, there's a big chance I won't like it, so yeah, better tell me or ask what I like
