as an 8-egg getter MEOW did cross my mind but i thought calling MEOW an "alphabetical soup" would be more ridiculous than the clue itself was. 4 letters just seemed way too short to be called a soup

I have to agree. In fact, this is worse than Clue 10 from 2015. Anything with a red herring makes it worse. Who would think a forum trend would yield an answer? It’s also almost as bad as the second mirror from the Halloween Carnival (which in no way looks like Wiggler).

idk what part you're agreeing with, i don't have a good enough memory to know what you're referencing. but anyways i'd be more surprised if "exposure" didn't make an appearance since forum memes have had a tendency to be egg hunt answers in the past

i think it was a really stupidly difficult clue but there's always at least one. plus when you think about it after the fact, it does make sense. it could maybe have just been worded better since it somewhat implies people learned a new acronym opposed to being a made-up one for this event.

I noticed that clues have gotten more obscure and progressively harder as time went by. Most older clues reflect on eggs that take place in threads that were posted on between two egg hunts, or were at least on stickied or active threads. But since 2017, they started to get more unpredictable. In the 2017 and 2018 egg hunts, at least one clue was hidden in an unstickied and inactive thread published prior to the previous egg hunt. I guess that’s the trade-off for having more lenient rules against hint-sharing.

my 3 guesses were MEOW, EMOW (MEOW alphabatized) and COOCRBBDD (the first letter of each bolded line in the streetpass silver thread)

quite frankly, I think the last one is a better answer, and I absolutely hate it too

I only submitted klaus as a bit of an "i give up" kind of joke. The clue was so cranky sounding, so i googled cranky villagers and klaus popped up with the bathhouse request in the info. Pure luck. But i think the cranky angle helped?

google lied to you about him being a cranky, but hey. it all worked out in the end, anyways

he still seemed close enough for me (I can see smugs* being too stuck up to care about eggs and balloons), so he got a submission from me. also submitted harry, a cranky villager whose home is literally a bathhouse

Personally I never thought MEOW could be the answer, mostly just because the clue was talking about grinding for silver and MEOW coupons were a separate currency. But where I got stuck for awhile was thinking that the answer would be a real existing acronym from the event. I didn't realize until the very end (literally like 8pm Monday was when I submitted my guess) that maybe we have to make up an acronym, lol

I'm already imagining the zipper amalgamations for next year, and frankly, I hope none of them come true (I also came up with an April Fool's event where staff tricks us into thinking zipper has left the forums for good, and every egg is replaced with the Wobbling Zipper Toy)

Personally I never thought MEOW could be the answer, mostly just because the clue was talking about grinding for silver and MEOW coupons were a separate currency.

I was 99% sure MEOW was wrong but I guessed it anyway cuz it had the vague connection of meow coupons being one of the tier prizes that were unlocked during the streetpassing silver event. In my heart I knew it had something do with the exposure threads because of the word “exposed” being in the clue but I wouldn’t have figured out the acronym bit in a million years hahah
