The Anime Thread

I'm watching Kuroko's Basketball. I don't know the first thing about basketball since I was never interested in that particular sport in real life, but I am still enjoying it. I can't say much about it yet as I'm still in the beginning. I think I will stick to the sports genre for now, maybe looking in other directions in the future.

I like forums. I've always felt that I can connect on a larger level with people because I am talking with them not at them. People don't like that anymore. They want social media where they can connect with thousands of people at any given time. Places like twitter and tumblr have their own communities for every series, show ect, but I've never connected with them because it's such a large crowd that you get lost and no one ever connects on a personal level with anyone. It's why I like TBT so much.
I think you described why I like forums so much.

Where was I? Ah, yes...

Get ready for some sorcery! Jujutsu Kaisen season two is here!

Itadori and Todo continue their intense battle with Mahito. Mahito starts realizing his true form, and Todo's hand is sliced off so he can't use Boogie Woogie anymore. Unfortunately for Mahito, Itadori also starts drawing out more potential from within. In the moment that Todo creates an opening, Itadori uses a Black Flash at will and smashes Mahito's soul with a hard hit. Running away and on the verge of death, the Geto fake shows up to "save" Mahito.

Itadori tries to fight him, but isn't powerful enough on his own. Thankfully, all of his sorcerer allies show up, as well as an unexpected ally in the form of Choso. Choso uses his blood manipulation to make the battlefield more chaotic. Unfortunately for Itadori's side, Uraume shows up and freezes them all. Thankfully, likely due to Sukuna's influence, Itadori isn't frozen and is able to break Choso free. Uraume launches another attack to take Itadori out, but he is saved by someone from the distant past...

Next time on Jujutsu Kaisen season two, episode twenty-three. "Shibuya Incident - Gate, Close." You won't want to miss it! (y)

Yeah and add to the fact that most social media sites are just for clout. No one is ever really looking for any conversation, meaningful or otherwise. They just want to get a high off of some fake internet points.

Just finished Revolutionary Girl Utena and really enjoyed it! Not gonna lie there was a lot to take in, but I think the key messages are pretty clear and really interestingly done. Gonna be thinking about this one for a while.

Next I think I'm gonna watch Nana. I barely even know what it's about so I'm basically going in blind but I'm intrigued after hearing vague things about it over the years.

It's time for the penultimate episode and season finale of one of my favorite shows!

Get ready to defend and slay! The Rising Of The Shield Hero season three is here!

Enraged, the Bow Hero Itsuki tries to attack Naofumi and his party. Rishia draws the attention back to herself and engages him in combat. After using some good moves and a mysterious weapon, Rishia finally defeats Itsuki. Itsuki runs off and tries to find Princess Malty, but Naofumi and the others get there first. They find and read a letter to Itsuki from Malty that basically says she betrayed him. Shocked at this, Itsuki passes out.

When he wakes up, Rishia is there for him, and they are both back in Lurolona Village. Rishia successfully got her point across that the opposite of justice isn't evil, but actually another person's justice. Or as Crown Prince Xander in Fire Emblem would say, "Justice is an illusion." It'll take some time for Itsuki to improve, but for now the Shield Hero has brought the other three Cardinal Heroes together with him for the impending battle with the Phoenix.

---

As Naofumi has been thinking about Raphtalia, he has her put on a miko outfit to try and better suit her. Unbeknownst to him, however, this is seen as a declaration of war by the country of Q'ten Lo. Assassins immediately show up and attack Naofumi and company. Since they're resistant to the Cardinal Heroes' attacks, Naofumi and Raphtalia have to use Choral Magic to confuse them, and then everyone launches their best attacks to take them out.

Sadeena explains to Naofumi that Raphtalia is actually a descendant of a Heavenly Emperor from the country of Q'ten Lo, and that by putting on the outfit she was claiming her right to the throne. With the threat of more assassins coming and not much time left before the Phoenix attacks, Naofumi decides to take the fight to Q'ten Lo along with his comrades. No matter if he has to defeat one enemy or an entire nation, Naofumi will do whatever it takes to protect the ones he loves. For he is... The Shield Hero!

And now it's time for one of my favorite segments, a season in review!

The Rising Of The Shield Hero season three fixes the issues from season two while still tying parts of it to the current season in references. The show gets back to its roots, which is the fact that Naofumi isn't the only Cardinal Hero, but that there's three other Cardinal Heroes as well. The season does a good job of navigating Naofumi and his party's encounters with them, and through Naofumi's convincing them to join his side, the season shows what it really means to combat one's own sins or weaknesses. Perhaps fitting that the opening song for the season is literally called "SIN," Naofumi does a good job of convincing the other Cardinal Heroes to join his side and grow stronger together by using his own experiences and the experiences of his party members to be able to relate to them. While the season does have a few plot points that could be left out, all in all The Rising Of The Shield Hero season three is a huge improvement over the previous season and has made me super excited for what's next.

The Rising Of The Shield Hero/Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari season three steamrolls in at a solid 8/10 on the anime scale. Until next time. Cya!

I started watching MHA again and picked up on season 5 part II of the dvd boxset. I don't have streaming services so I have to watch them this way. I rented it at the library so I have to send it back later. The episodes aren't bad, but so far they haven't really been anything to write home about.

Season 5 is kind of just a lot of setting up to be honest. Now season 6 on the other hand, THAT'S where it's at. I'm curious to know what you think of the latest season once you've watched it. 👀

It might take me a while to get to that point. I'm really slow to getting around to watching things lol. And right now season 5 hasn't really wowed me if I'm being honest. The last episode I watched was where they were fighting smugglers in the ocean.

Get ready to eat some peanuts and infiltrate the enemy ranks. Spy x Family season two is here!

Becky is still enamored with Loid and demands to come over to the Forger's residence. While there she mostly ignores Anya and tries to get Loid to fall in love with her (despite the huge age difference). Loid, or Twilight, sees this as an opportunity to try and get intel on Becky's family, so he starts asking her questions. After running out of options, Becky fakes being drunk, and Yor panics and rushes her through traffic towards the hospital after suspecting she has alcohol poisoning. Becky tells her to stop and that she doesn't, and that she just wanted to get Loid's attention. Yor stops and listens to her. Becky figures from the strength of Yor that Loid prefers strong women, so she tries to win a hammer game. Unable to do so, Yor does it for her, and Becky demands that Yor take her on as an apprentice. Finally, it is time for Becky to return home.

Nightfall is still insistent on becoming Twilight's wife because she secretly loves him, so she takes on extra missions and work in order to try and please him. After completing everything, Loid gives her a souvenir, and she runs off with the bag like a happy-go-lucky child.

---

Loid is going to take Bond on a walk, but Anya doesn't go, so he decides to train Bond instead. After attempting to and failing to train him as much as he wants, they decide to go elsewhere. Bond reads the future and makes the mistake of messing up a kid's ice cream and biting an old man. Loid begins to think that he needs to retrain Bond. Bond then has another vision of the future, however, and takes Loid to a burning building. While there, Bond rushes inside and Loid follows, and they save a small dog that was still trapped inside. Bond also catches the arsonist after they rescue the puppy. Not wanting to be put into the newspaper, they quietly leave the place.

Everyone's hopes and dreams are shown, all connected in some way or other to the Forger family. Such good people those Forgers are, but don't forget! They're secretly... a SPY FAMILY!

And now for one of my favorite segments, it's time for another season in review! 😎

Spy x Family is a show that shows how easy it is to lie while maintaining a persona, but instead doing it for the sake of peace, and the show uses a lot of stories to illustrate just how skilled the Forger family is at this. Season two is no different as it involves a lot of action, a lot of comedy, some romance, and woven subplots that'll have you scratching your head twice at how refined it is. Truly a gold standard show, Spy x Family season two capitalizes on what the first season did, which is follow a main narrative, namely to keep the peace between Westalis and Ostania, while also showing all the different stories about the characters within the show. The show does a super good job of showing character development for even the side characters, all while still making it super charming for the average viewer. There isn't really any cons I can list for season two, other than I wish they made more episodes! Spy x Family season two crashes through a burning building in a blaze of glory at a PERFECT 10/10 on the anime scale. Until next time. Cya!

Get ready for some sorcery! Jujutsu Kaisen season two is here!

The person from the distant past who saved Itadori is none other than Yuki Tsukumo. She doesn't agree with Geto's ideals and challenges him. Unfortunately it is too late as Geto activates something that has been in planning for a long time, turning the entire area into a cursed spirit hotbed. The hotbed grows and encompasses a large area of Japan. Leaders try to figure out how to get civilians to evacuate.

As a result, Geto is shown to be alive, anyone who tries to rescue Gojo will be committing a crime, the head of Jujutsu High is sentenced to death for inciting Geto and Gojo's fights, Itadori is sentenced to death immediately, and Yuta Okkotsu will be his executioner.

And thus, that's it! Cursed spirits going monkey and killing people everywhere!

And now it's time for one of my favorite segments, a season in review! 😎

Jujutsu Kaisen season two picks up where season one left off, kind of. The season starts with a cut-in from Gojo and Geto's pasts for 5 episodes, which I suppose is necessary to set things up. But then the season starts abruptly with the "shibuya incident." Can't say I'm a huge fan of the thing, as I feel the writer(s) only added it in the manga and the show to create more conflict instead of going about it a different way. Season two suffers from killing off several beloved characters as well, which ultimately feels like it was done for shock value. The ending to the season is also just... super unsatisfying. I will say, however, that it had plenty of good action scenes and ended on a good cliffhanger.

Jujutsu Kaisen season two falls off the wagon on the anime scale at a less than ideal 6/10. Wasn't sure where they were going to take this show, but this ain't it, chief. Until next time. Cya!

And that's a wrap on anime for this year! Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread in the five years since its creation. I'm proud to say that we've reached almost 200 pages of anime discussion (by Xenforo standards)!

As a special treat, here's a sneak peek at the trailer for My Hero Academia season 7. I would encourage anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled at all to NOT click play on this video.

I'm really excited for MHA to return, and season 7 airs on May 4th as well, the day before my birthday. I couldn't ask for a better birthday present!

I hope everyone who is interested in anime found some neat shows to watch this year, and see you all next year in 2024 for more fun anime discussion! Until next year! Cya!

I've been wanting to collect the Lupin the Third movies and TV specials. I even have the Funimation collections. I found out about three darker, gory ones I may want to avoid: Jigen's Gravestone, Goemon's Bloodspray, and Fujiko's Lie. I like the goofy part two stuff.

i am waiting patiently for the release date for Ave Mujica to be announced. i could guess and say late spring-summer 2024, but there is no way of telling untill it is announced.

it is rumored to be similair to a psychological horror anime, which would be a first for Bandori. i am eager to see how it will turn out. Ave Mujica is my favourite unit from the Bandori franchise by far, and they have yet to (properly) debut. all we know about the characters in Ave Mujica are the small cameos they made in MYGO.

apparently Uikas VA was told something about Uika by the producers, and she was in disbelief. knowing it is rumored to be that of a psychological horror anime, i cannot wait to watch it.

I've heard a lot of good things about Durarara!! Over the years, so seeing as my anime watchlist is empty for now, I'm going to start it.

Really looking forward to it as I've had both old friends and new friends who are interested in anime recommend it.

Also, for those who are wanting to see Shizuo be epic, search "You know me? Durarara AMV" on YouTube. You will not be disappointed. 👀

I watched it a long time ago and loved it. Sadly, I haven't seen a lot of anime in the past years, but I miss that kind of anime.

I love Durarara!! Its storytelling is super unique. If you feel confused at first, keep watching and it'll make sense later. Totally let us know what you think!

Edit: Watch the teenagers Durarara AMV after you're done the first season. It spoils the entire first season LOL. It's very well done though.

I feel like watching an anime this season but I don't know what to watch, I haven't seen much lately so I don't know anything about the new ones. I'm finishing Spy X Family 2, I like it, what should I watch next? I like many genres but moe is not my thing. I've also seen a lot of anime in the past so I'm a bit tired with anime just following the tropes.

What are you all going to watch this winter?

I've been so busy, I'm still trying to get caught up on all the anime I started this past season. However, I have finally finished Spy x Family and Jujutsu Kaisen. All I can say about that final episode of JJK is that was a mood shift. I don't know, I kind of liked it though.

Right now these are the anime I'm most interested in checking out this season:

- Meiji Gekken: 1874
- The Witch and the Beast

Some super slay updates from me!

♡ I finally finished rewatching Durarara!!, and I LOVE it SOO much more than when I watched it as a kid. The ending of the first season had me all frustrated, so I need to keep watching. I think there's 2 more seasons? But I heard neither of them are as good as the first.. :^/

♡ I started watching more Chobits! Some of the wholesome episodes really make me tear up a little. I love Chii and Hideki's chemistry so much. They're super cute and I can tell they both love each other a LOT! I'm very interested to see more about Freya though. Which I do believe is Chii's 'sister'. And I really just need to see how it ends, so with that being said.. I'll probably finish it tonight! I'm on Episode 17 currently.

♡ Waiting to watch more of S2 Part 2 of Tokyo Revengers with @nyx~ ;w; I need to see more, especially since I hated how the last episodes we watched ended... -w-

I finished season one of Link Click, and safe to say I loved it! I started season two, and am looking forward to seeing what happens. I also started Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, and it's definitely a little crazy but it's a fun watch.

As for season two of Jujutsu Kaisen, I haven't finished it quite yet (waiting for the dub), but it's been great! I've read the manga past where the season will end, so I already know what will happen...but wow. Seeing some scenes hit WAY harder watching than reading. Excited to see the culling game arc animated in a few years, but glad I have some time to mentally prepare myself haha. For now I'll just be happy Okkotsu is back c:

Other than those, still need to catch up on Tokyo Revengers (NEXT WEEK @Mimi Cheems HOLD ME TO IT), and for the winter season I'm planning to watch A Sign of Affection, as well as the new seasons of Classroom of the Elite and Blue Exorcist!
