Why are Kangaroo villagers disliked?

i personally like the kangaroos. they’re not my favourite or anything but they’re cute! my favourite is marcie ;u;

None of them really stand out to me, and like the others, I'm not at all a fan of the joeys. The male ones aren't terrible, but I don't really like how both of them lean into the 'boxing kangaroo' thing (despite neither being a jock).

I loved sylvia in new leaf and I love all the kangaroos I think they're one of the most special animals cause they're 2 villagers in one!! Who wouldnt want a baby Joey on the island?!?! I need to have a kangaroo on the island.two would be really cute too..

I love Rooney and Walt!! It sucks that they're both cranky, because two cranky's of the same species isn't all that great. But I love them both!!
The girls... yeah those joey's are weird. But I really like Astrid and Mathilda. It's just... get rid of the joeys Nintendo! Or make them move their heads and not look like miniature models of their mothers. It's weird.

I find their babies really creepy.. The way they're just a smaller copy and paste of their mother, so they blink and emote exactly the same way, at the exact same time. And it's weird that the mother never says anything about their baby, as far as I know?

I don't dislike them but I'm not crazy about their designs. My favorite Kangaroo would have to be Marcie who I also share a birthday with, and Kitt isn't too bad either, but overall I just find the other animal species to be cuter.

I like Walt, he looks really cool. I had Matilda in my very very first town like 13 years ago or something and their town tunes when you talk to them give me so much nostalgia.

I like Walt and Rooney, they're just not very popular. Maybe because of the shape of the models?

Tbh I only see people liking Walt, because he is an older Villager which has a great color. Rooney is not that much liked, because people saying that his color combination is awful (even if I don’t think so). For me he looks more like some kind of Hybrid between a Kangaroo and a Yoshi.

Don’t you see the similarities? Other than being a Dinosaur and a Kangaroo, which are completely different Animals.

Fun Fact: The Soles are consistent with those of Boxing Shoes, so we can assume that he has indeed Shoes on. It’s a nice little detail.

The thing about the kangaroo babies seems funny to me. I don't know how many people here watched the cartoon Garfield and Friends back in the 80s/90s, but there was a segment of the show called U.S. Acres and there was a character named Wade the duck who wore a duck shaped flotation tube. This rubber duck floatie would mirror Wade's expressions. I was young when that show was popular, but I always remember getting a kick out of that. The joeys remind me of that.

I think the kangaroo villagers are cute. And I view their joeys as an 11th villager, honestly.

My favorite kangaroo is Rooney. He was a starting villager in NL and I liked his boxing kangaroo theme. The female kangas are offputting for me but everyone has their own tastes

Personally I really love them!! The babies are so fricking cute. I even like how they mirror the mom's expression. It does weird me out a little how the joeys are never acknowledged - if there were a few roo-specific dialogues about their babies that'd bring the species onto my faves list, easy. I understand why there isn't any species specific dialogue but maybe in future games... One can only hope.

Marcie was my starter normal in this game and I was surprised how much I missed her for awhile after she was gone. The Normal personality fits female kangaroos very well. I wanted to fit a female roo into my final lineup but it just didn't really work out... I've never had a male kangaroo before though and decided to search for Walt as a compromise. Plus, the old-man-cranky dialogue really bothers me for all of my cranky favs I had pre-NL (that's not the Butch/Static/Kabuki i know!!!) so I think Walt, whose design is actually old looking yet also cool looking, will be a great fit for my island.

I pretty much like all of them and I have 2 on my island being Mathilda and Rooney and I adore them both. I even individually bought Walt's and Marcie's amiibo cards.

I think to fix the "creepiness" that the joeys give off, i think Nintendo should give the female roos dialogue talking about their joeys to make it seem like they actually care for them, and maybe give the joey other expressions than copying the mother. I think all of the roos are precious!

Thats what I don't understand why everyone is saying the Joey's are creepy they really aren't though

Female kangaroos in general: the babies creep me out.
Mathilda in particular: her red eyes also creep me out.
I have no problems with most of the male roos though. I think they aren’t cutesy like a lot of the really popular villagers which is why some people don’t like them.

I personally don't mind the kangaroo villagers all that much but a possibility of why they are disliked is because of the female kangaroos' joeys or babies being almost the same as their mothers, expressions and all which could be a factor of dislike for some.

Hello fellow old! I honestly forgot about that, but I think Wade was cuter, and had a more distinct personality because it was a cartoon instead of a game with limited dialogue options. (Sheldon was my favorite.)
