Why are Kangaroo villagers disliked?

Honestly, I just feel like there aren't that many good designs done with the kangaroos yet. Sheep are in a similar boat to me, where I feel like the species itself isn't inherently bad but the characters they've created aren't that compelling.

Agreed, I think we just need a good designed Kangaroo to appreciate them more similar to the goats I feel like became more appreciated when Sherb came around!
 
I hate them because Astrid was always so mean to me in City Folk as a child... wait does that make me racist against kangaroos lol
 
People's taste are just different I guess. I don't like Goats at all, they remind me of Timmy from South Park.

You all are sleeping on Walt though.
 
Walt is the only one I tolerate. I kinda like Mathilda too just because I like Roscoe.
 
I don't like their model designs (anatomy and proportions) and a lot of their colors/palettes are not very appealing. :S They have this very blocky, clunky sort of feel to them for me somehow.
 
Surprised so many don't like the joeys! They're the main reason the kangaroos appeal to me so much <3
 
I don't find many character designs unappealing, but pretty much all of the kangaroos are ugly to me. They're all second rate :/ they could make some really cute designs (think Kanga/Roo from Winnie the Pooh), but instead they all look like retired school teachers that hated their jobs. Wish they were cuter.

If you don't understand why we don't like them, and you like Walt I feel like there's nothing I can say that will make you understand the fear and sheer terror the Kangaroos bring to the table.

Honestly Walt looks horrendous. I got unfortunate and ended up getting @Mello 's Walt It took me forever to get rid of that after shave Kangaroo.
 
Personally, I like them a lot! I had Carrie this past winter, and it was so cute seeing her and her joey on Toy Day ☺ Not a fan of Astrid, though. The design is super weird to me. And I don't like the males much. Their designs are perfectly fine, I guess, but I don't see the point since they don't have joeys (obviously the best features of kangaroos)
 
the only thing that irks me about the kangaroos is that every single female has a baby in her pouch. cant we have some that don't have a baby on them at all times?

other than that I actually don't mind them much, though obv I prefer Rooney and Walt cause they don't have a baby lol
 
I like the kangaroos, but they’re not my favorite. I really like Kitt and her aesthetic. She has a nice house interior, as well. Rooney is cool. I had him and kept him around for a while, but I had to move him out to make room for my dream villagers.
 
Its the joeys. The joeys imitating the mothers is creepiest about the female kangaroos. I have no problem with Walt or Rooney. I've had Walt on my island and it was a really pleasurable experience. Best kangaroo hands down
 
my dislike for kangaroo villagers started in the gamecube AC with Marcy! I hated having to see her everyday and she just would not leave my town. then there was Sylvia who I had in New Leaf and had the same situation with her, I don’t know why it was so hard to get them to move out. I don’t like their character designs either and as someone else had mentioned before about them not giving the baby kangaroo names! Please name the babies, they deserve their own identity!! but i never knew there were male kangaroos!!! (guess you really do learn something new everyday) that’s crazy to think all them years of playing animal crossing I’ve never once encountered a male kangaroo. granted there’s only two of them, but still.
 
Rooney and Walt not having joeys are a plus, I think Walt is my favorite kangaroo.

Of the females, I only like Mathilda. Her design is so basic and kinda spooky vibes so the joey works for her.
 
I used to like them...til Marcie moved in. She was my first female kangaroo ever. I've had both Walt and Rooney on NH, so it was nice to finally see one with a baby. It felt like a bonus villager even. But then I was disheartened that she never ever references the fact the baby is even there. That was disappointing. I didn't hate her at that point though. This came later.

I redid my whole island over the summer. It's now city themed. Marcie's pink hut doesn't fit. I decided to let her go as soon as she gave me her pic. But she's still there. She is outright refusing to give me her pic so I can replace her! I have gifted her every damn item in existence, always gift wrapped too. But still no pic. I don't know wtf is happening with her.

Then due to some brilliantly observed comments about the kangaroo babies just being a weird growth or second head, I can never look at a female kangaroo the same way haha
