Why are Kangaroo villagers disliked?

I can’t stand their designs. The only one I like is Walt. I don’t know if it’s the proportions either, or if the babies creep me out... I just don’t like them. But Walt is the best.

Personally I really love them!! The babies are so fricking cute. I even like how they mirror the mom's expression. It does weird me out a little how the joeys are never acknowledged - if there were a few roo-specific dialogues about their babies that'd bring the species onto my faves list, easy. I understand why there isn't any species specific dialogue but maybe in future games... One can only hope.

Marcie was my starter normal in this game and I was surprised how much I missed her for awhile after she was gone. The Normal personality fits female kangaroos very well. I wanted to fit a female roo into my final lineup but it just didn't really work out... I've never had a male kangaroo before though and decided to search for Walt as a compromise. Plus, the old-man-cranky dialogue really bothers me for all of my cranky favs I had pre-NL (that's not the Butch/Static/Kabuki i know!!!) so I think Walt, whose design is actually old looking yet also cool looking, will be a great fit for my island.

There is a tiny bit of species-specific dialogue. I gave Cousteau an umbrella and he was like “thanks? I don’t need it?” (Or something) and ended with “I mean, just look at me!” (I imagined the octopi say something similar?)

I'm surprised that some people hate the kangaroos! I love my cranky kangaroo Walt, his whole "old man boxer" design is super cool in my opinion! c:

Thats what I don't understand why everyone is saying the Joey's are creepy they really aren't though

Creepy is very individual I think.
The fact that no one acknowledges the baby is weird, and since it 100% mirrors the expressions, it’s less like a baby than a second head coming out of the kangaroo’s abdomen.

I had Mathilda in WW back when snooty personalities meant they were a real you know what. For some reason I thought she was so much meaner than other snooties I had, had before and I just don't vibe with the kangaroo design in general

Some of them do have baby related stuff in their homes, just imagine they interact with their babies when they're not hosting company.
The babies mimicking the mother's expression is fine because babies do that in real life (well, humans, but ya'know)

I like them personally , but I do wish the babies looking slightly different from their moms.

The roos are so cool so idk why myself. Astrid has a very unique design so I rlly like her but I also love Carrie, Walt and Marcie

I had both Kitt and Sylvia in my NL town at the same time once, and they really grew on me! I liked to imagine that they hung out with their kids together :'D that recent mother's day news post had a render of Kitt and it's really made me consider having her back in my NH island bc ahh she's adorable :'')

Hey, that's right, I forgot about the frogs! They have species specific dialogue during rain. The octopi actually do not which is definitely an oversight.

If you can do it for the frogs why not for the roos Nintendo? Stop shortchanging kangaroo lovers...

They don’t name their children, which I think is awful. Give those babies some names.

They just aren't that cute, imo. When there are a limited number of villager personality types, people will default to the cuter-looking ones if they're gonna have the same dialogue as less attractive villagers. Personally, I think it's a little weird that they have kids.

I don't like that the faces are synced up. They'd be 100% cuter if they were not synced.

Their designs aren't too bad, but I dislike the baby they carry.
They make the exact same facial expressions.
They blink at the same time.
I hate that.
I especially dislike Mathilda. Her design bothers the hell out of me, because both her and her baby look like they will kill me.

I happen to love the kangaroos. Are they perfect? No. Can I see past their flawed, yes. I had Mathilda in NL and she made me laugh all the time like what kind of horrible values are you instilling in your child. Then in NH I got Carrie and I'd never heard of her before and when I saw she was a kangaroo I thought about the pun that is her name and I just died laughing.

Had Walt in NL too, wish the only 2 males in existence weren't the same personality.

Probably because none of them are “top-tier”. They aren’t my favorites, but they’re very unique.

I think they are really cute, and so are their babies! the rats are way worse in my opinion lol

I think they get freaked out by the Joey. I have both Mathilda and Astrid on my island. Mathilda is cool, Astrid’s design makes me think of the Insane Clown Posse juggalos, so it’s kind of weird, but also kinda funny.

I'm not a huge fan of kangaroos in real life either so I don't expect to like them in Animal Crossing either.

They kinda freak me out tbh... I don't really dislike them, I just don't really like them either. The fact that their baby moves and even blinks in unison with their mother really creeps me out...
